Camp in 4K: Day 3 (Friday)

I watched the extensive practice footage this morning, thanks to @DMoney for producing the amount of content.

I'm gobsmacked with this team to be quite honest. The different in body types, in practice behavior, in sheer movement capabilities is just night and day. Even compared to last year, everyone is moving at an entirely different level. The tight ends looking gigantic and they all move. There's an intensity in tackling drills that just open my eyes. We're tackling assistant coaches off the mat. It's almost as if the assistant coaches want to get hurt.

The young receivers... it's insanity. None of them look out of place. They're freshmen for the most part.

DL and OL practice through the whistle. If something is not right, they get coached up and IMMEDIATELY do it better. It's unbelievable, everyone looks extremely happy to practice, happy to do the dirty work, happy to learn, to make mistakes, to grind. The intensity in the reps has me questioning whether we're not going too hard. Then I see the next two and you can tell that they want it that way.

I'm not the person to gloat over preseason practices, haven't done so in some time. But these are just things that just stand out. And I can't believe for one second that this is something normal. It's not. This is a very special group of people.

Any somewhat normal fan has every reason to be cautious about optimism especially when it comes to spring stuff

It’s different now

In just about every single frame you’re seeing a player that was nationally recruited because they’re bigger, faster, and stronger than most people

It’s not some guys we hope are better than their ranking beating up on guys that noone has ever heard of

The players are better but so are the coaches

We went through a lot of misery to get here but it’s our time now

After looking at some of last years games and looking at these clips from practice…. I was delusional AF. I used to say “we’re just a few players away”.
Simple wide receiver outs and slants are not just that simple. As they say “there’s levels to this”
This is why recruiting builds on itself and why we needed Mario.
You have to have a personal that can make a kid believe.
Now kids come to practice and see we already there. And what’s already there is talent and athleticism that just wasn’t there for anybody to believe in.

It’s night and day. There hasn’t been that type and depth of talent on that campus for a very long time.

WR group truly looks outrageous. Guys who probably won’t even see much of the field who could destroy ACC DBs.

Who’s the coach at the end who signs up to get tackled with his pad? Good stuff.

Dumb Question on the WR drills. Specifically on the dual crossers, the WRs touch hands as they cross each other.

I assume that’s a drill that teaches a certain distance that they need to be from each other during those crossers but Im guessing they don’t do that in games, right?

Old school teaching point of one of air raid staples mesh concept. Helps the receivers run their routes tight enough to create the rub effect they look for in the play, basically ensures they run their routes tight enough, after the mesh they read the defense and continue running away from defender if in man, or settle in bubble if against zone, basically find open grass. Some teach boundary field on who goes over, or always use left hand so they wont run into each other.

One of the universal concepts that is in dam near every playbook on every level now because of how it stresses a defense, simplicity and ability to be versatile, where you can run mesh rail (with RB out of backfield), mesh sail, etc.

But but, FSU fans say they have better WR depth!

Correct. It's a drill to make sure they're as close as possible without running into each other which will effectively have defenders running into each other in games.

That last drill, db assistant is going thru it looll. Oj ain’t spare him at all

This is the deepest Miami team we've seen in 25 years & draft pick wise were gonna start flirting with the old days shortly. It wouldn't be far fetched if we had 4 1st rounders on this D in Moten, Scott, Wilson, & OJ. We also have some other dark horses. Of course offensively this team is going to be insane. I think were as good as anyone.

Admittedly, I was a little concerned about the OL heading into the season but not any more. It won’t be the strength of the team, but it **** sure will not be our weakest link.

We’ve got some great young talent, and I cannot wait to see what our OL looks like over the next 2-3 years.
