Am I crazy for thinking he is going to put up FCS numbers? I look at our schedule, the time he will get behind our OL and our skilled players and I can come to no other conclusion that he is going to put up 2021 type stats.

I don’t think most of our fans know who he is playing at Washington St

I would have thought them beating Colorado 56-14 would have people taking notice but they’re just so far off of most fans radar

Can’t wait
I also don’t think most fans in general know just how untalented that Wazzu team was relative to their competition. I’ve posted it before and I know it’s not perfect especially with the portal, but Wazzu had something like the 70th ranked team in the blue chip ratio, which was dead last in the P5 by a long shot and would’ve been I believe 7th in the AAC. (not ACC, the American)

They had one of the worst offensive lines, if not the worst in the P5. Their game against UCLA that people use against Ward strictly on stats was one of the biggest trench bloodbaths I’ve ever seen. He repeatedly had someone in his face by the time he got the snap.

Edit: Team talent composite, not blue chip ratio. And it was 76th, wedged right in between UTSA and UMass

Yeah there was an early season game…can’t remember exactly which one but I saw some highlights and I was like wow this kid playing QB is elite.

So I would always be looking for a late night game to watch while the world was infatuated with Colorado

I’m no guru and making too many blanket statements is never good…but I was in awe of some of the plays he was making. Never in a million years did I entertain the thought he would be a Cane.

A buddy of mine is from out west and is sort of a secondary Wazzu fan, so I’ve always watched a lot of their games, especially after Leach got there. The first time I watched Ward in 2022 I was blown away. I think he’s better than multiple QBs drafted R1 this year.

As soon as the Pac12 was announced to be dissolving I started hoping he’d wind up here when I realized he had an extra Covid year but I thought he’d get too good of a draft grade.

What I didn’t know about him was his leadership qualities and alpha mentality (as much as I hate that term)

Crazy talented but from Day 1 his interviews, the way he carries himself etc yes he’s making a business move and trying to be a first round pick, but he’s also very much in to the little things that makes a great leader

I’ve said it many times but if Mario can’t win with this kid and this team then he can’t win here

Here's the flip side to that massive OL offense that we have combined with the weak schedule. IF we are that good, odds are we will be up big in the second half of most games. That equates to Mario ball, which means not much passing and lowered stats. Personally I don't care about stats. I care about wins.
Don't kill me for saying this...y'all know it's true.

If were winning Mario needs to PAT THOSE STATS! Blow out, sit Cam let Poff and Emory sling the rock to the youngins

If you want to recruit 5 star QB talent, you pour it on and let them get the stats. Agree with the wins only matter statement
