Cam Ward stats

Here's the flip side to that massive OL offense that we have combined with the weak schedule. IF we are that good, odds are we will be up big in the second half of most games. That equates to Mario ball, which means not much passing and lowered stats. Personally I don't care about stats. I care about wins.
Don't kill me for saying this...y'all know it's true.
That would be a good problem to have

If were winning Mario needs to PAT THOSE STATS! Blow out, sit Cam let Poff and Emory sling the rock to the youngins
That would be awesome if real life was a video game. But it's not. Shame too, cuz I've seen some Grand Theft Auto moments that I would love to incorporate into my real life. 50 years of watching football tells me that what youre saying doesn't usually happen.

And it's "pad" those stats, not "pat."

I knew who he was but had never studied his game. Been watching the last few weeks and I'm blown away.

Best combination of accuracy, arm strength, quick release, and ability to read defenses we've had in eons. Mobile. Talks like an old man who's been there and knows what needs to be said and done. Sharp...he talked up Trader & Carr in the interviews after the second practice, giving his youngest receivers that much needed confidence. Alpha. Leader.

Winner.

If you want to recruit 5 star QB talent, you pour it on and let them get the stats. Agree with the wins only matter statement
Winning > stats 100/100 times. Any real 5 star QB recruit (who we want) knows this.

To keep it totally real, Cam can still put up some silly stats in 3 quarters of play. Something like 23/30, 310, 3 TDs and 1 on the ground, while handing the ball off to Martinez and Fletcher the entire 4th Q. 12 games = 3700 yards with 35 TDs. If that stat line come with an 11-1 record, I'm not sure there's much for a 5 star QB to complain about.

PS. I'm oversimplifying the living helll out of things, but I think you can pick up what I'm putting down.

I’m assuming we’re talking about 12 game regular season stats, right? Because if Miami plays in the ACCG and then makes a playoff run, you’re taking about 4 more games. That could easily be another 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns.

That said, I think we’re going to have a lot of big leads this year and we’ll shut down the passing game early. WSU was often losing big or in shootouts so they were passing it a ton. I don’t see Cam throwing for 400 yards a week or anything wild like that.

There could be some of that, but there could be a Jimmy Johnson response. Put in the second team and run up the score.

After all, back then we didn’t rebuild, we reloaded.

Either way there’d be less time for Cam on the field.

Jimmy Johnson was not the caveman that Corch Mario is.

I would love to see a crazy outpouring of passing and scoring, but my eyes and experience tell me that it'll be ground and pound (pause) in the second halves of games we're winning.

You (as well as others) need to rewatch a few games. He’s not Larry Coker launching the Coker T in the second half. He’s about establishing his will over an opponent.

Just look at the game day thread for last years Clemson game. Half the board was fapping during the comeback because we could run at will against a quality opponent.

You and your bro style friends are letting one game (as bad as it was) affect you. And as the stats show, he not a run only leather-helmet coach even with a QB prone to interceptions.

Am I crazy for thinking he is going to put up FCS numbers? I look at our schedule, the time he will get behind our OL and our skilled players and I can come to no other conclusion that he is going to put up 2021 type stats.
I just don’t see him having nearly as many attempts this year. I get we have a great qb but we are built to beat teams up. Our offense should be very balanced.

Cam Ward should have less attempts and higher avg yards per attempt and hopefully 30+ TD’s

Coker used to do that all the time with Butch's and his own teams. I hated it. bring out Poff/Williams and light it up with the young guys, too.

What I didn’t know about him was his leadership qualities and alpha mentality (as much as I hate that term)

Crazy talented but from Day 1 his interviews, the way he carries himself etc yes he’s making a business move and trying to be a first round pick, but he’s also very much in to the little things that makes a great leader

I’ve said it many times but if Mario can’t win with this kid and this team then he can’t win here

When his pops was playing the delay game, I won't deny I wanted us to go after Howard or some other top QB in the portal and not get caught with our pants down. I also watched two of Cam's worst performance games (vs. Stanford and AZ) to see how he handled adversity. They did lose a lot of games (5-7) and Cam had 2 fumbles and an int against AZ. He fumbled a lot tbh, and is not perfect by any means.

That said, that Washington State team was pure dog****. Outside of a couple of his receivers, he couldn't rely on anyone. His OL was porous, his RBs went down at first contact, his TEs were meh. Cam carried his entire team on his shoulders. And I 100% agree with your point on his leadership and alpha qualities. You can't really see that from his film, other than his toughness and talent. Cam is the perfect leader for this offense.

I honestly think we got the steal of the portal across all positions. I have no doubt he'll struggle in a few games. But as long as he protects the ball, we're a solid enough offense across the board that we will still win them. And that dude will lead us to a lot of victories.

Yeah honestly I don’t fault anyone for their opinions about how he handled the draft/recruitment

But once it was official he walked in the door day 1 and said let’s ******* go and has been all in (in my POV)

So he got his bag and maximized it so that’s good for them and now he knows he’s gotta back it up

WTF are you even talking about? Because I used the term "corch"?

Go back and read this entire thread (the parts where I commented) before you go lumping me in with the other people like you're trying to. I made a comment about how Ward will likely not have video game numbers this year because - if we are as good on offense as we thnk we are - we will have the leads in the second half of most games and those leads will be large. Because of those leads, we will pound the ball rather than throw - just like the rest of winning football teams do. Mario has said and demonstrated repeatedly that he wants to be able to pound the rock. It's not a secret. Yet that makes me part of the bro style friends club?

And F You pal, I'm not going back and watching those games again. Suffering through them the first time was enough. How about you go watch the 3rd quarter, specifically the first drive, of the Southern Miss game. (https://www.espn.com/college-football/playbyplay/_/gameId/401411105) Then tell me he's not a ram it down your throat coach. Spoiler alert - it was a 13 play drive, 10 runs, 3 passes, of which 2 of the 3 passes went to the RBs. The passing game was off so Mario went to his bread and butter. I'm good with that.

Just to further clarify, I love Mario, corch or coach. He works his *** off and is a Cane through and through. I also believe in his impose the will mentality. I am not a fan of losing games because of time management issues, especially when we leave time outs on the table. And guess what? None of this paragraph has anything to do with what the original topic that I commented on, but somehow you took it this direction.

And the NorthEast sucks.

Fix that easy. PLAY THE BACK UP QB AND LET HIM COOK!
