Cam Ward he is not

Cam Ward is on a higher level than any 2025 QBs. He is a true one of a kind.

But last year's Canes team would lose to this Notre Dame team- and it probably wouldn't have been close. The roster and coaching staff has leveled up this year.
This would of been 35 - 42 loss last year

The only two QB's who are even close to Beck are Klubnick and Nussmeyer. Nobody else comes close.

I will say this, the Callow Young Lad he faced this evening will come into his own later in the year. Carr showed some intestinal fortitude tonight.
Carr shot up the young QB ratings about as much as Arch plummeted, probably right there with Sayin.

Once we put Lagway in the locker with his coach in a few weeks, that may be the top spot.

You must be fun at parties.
Yeez, you come across as one miserable person.

We just beat a really good ND team and imposed our will on them most of the game.
Biggest win for this program since at least 2017 and this is the first thing you feel you need to post.
Enjoy the victory.

I like Beck and thought Beck was a good QB at UGA. He’s a gamer, especially with a strong running game to help him. No, he isn’t Cam as Cam was that dude.

Beck gives us a chance to win this season which is what we’re looking for. Hopefully, we’re more of a complete team this season.

We cannot keep coaching not to lose as we kind of went into a shell with about 12 or so minutes to go to in the game. Would love to see us finish teams off up 14 going into the 4th. But, hey, it’s week one and the Canes are 1-0. Like Beck said last night, 1-0 every week. Come on Mario trust your guys…

Trader out
Lyle out

Mario crawls into his tough shell.

Oh yeah, one target to Lofton the god

The WR’s weren’t perfect but they made some big time plays.

The Mind boggling conservatism from Mario and Dawson is what needs to be called out.

Our last 5 offensive plays were runs up the gut, setting up a 46 yard FG by a guy who was 4/11 for his career, potentially giving ND the ball with a minute left. That was the problem, not Beck and not the WRs.
Even the TV Broadcast commented on the conservative play calling starting in the 3 Q.

We could easily had at least another T. Mario got so conservative even the TV guys pointed it out. EVERYONE knew the run between the 2 tackles. Please Mario stop being such a control freak. They were loading the box for the run. 3 3 and outs in a row with that play calling. Mario could have lost us the game.

Beck isn’t a generational talent…you don’t say 😂

But can Beck be good to great in THIS offense…yes I do think so.

My only question is gonna be the OC/HC mentality to play calling and game management.

Beck will get better as the year goes on

And more importantly imo the WRs will get better as the year goes on. People kept talking about talent, thats cool but we need precision just as much at the top level. The more reps the better

I felt like there were a lot of RPOs with basically all of them going to run. I can only assume that the choices were dictated by the defense.

I think that should be considered when talking about "taking the ball out of Beck's hands" or "conservative play calling". At least in the 3rd quarter. I think the fourth quarter was exactly what it looked like. I don't love it but it worked. It won't always.

But then again, the same could be said about aggressive play calling. If he kept the pedal to the floor there are lots of ways that could have gone badly; turnovers, 3&outs, sacks, etc.

So let's not pretend that this place would be all rosy with "at least we went down swinging" thoughts. Mario would have been roasted for not knowing how to play with the lead.

Say it with me: NO ONE EXPECTS HIM TO BE CAM WARD.

If you are expecting him to be Cam Ward, you will be disappointed. Cam was likely a once in a lifetime QB, especially at Miami, where we went almost 40 years between truly transcendent QBs(Dorsey , Walsh and Torretta were winners, but they weren't guys that could dominate on their own). The last QB Miami had that could do that was Vinny.

Beck has a lot of tools and he isn't afraid to use them. That said, he also isn't perfect. I like that he's a bit more decisive, and gets the ball out quickly. He looked solid coming off the elbow injury, he appears to have a good grasp of the system.
