This was not just one issue. It was a repeated failure to uphold team standards.

Sad for him because of the timing but I think the right players will be getting opportunities at WR and this is one less distraction going into the season.
If he was causing problems it’s the right decision. It also sets precedent and lets other players know not to test Mario. Set the standard early unlike Kirby, who has had a massive discipline issue for years now because he wouldn’t punish players for off-field issues. Will be curious what happens with Lyle now.

Weird. Staff seems pretty good at evaluating “character” or whatever, especially with transfers.
I think timing played a big role. With QB in limbo and no second window, I think we were aggressive in trying to bring in proven WRs. The calculus changed when Mensah joined with Barkate.
Understand now - watched your live take after I posted. Makes sense. Thanks!

We are very deep at WR but it likely means one of the freshman will likely need to step up during the season.

Promise im not overreacting but..do we think we’re missing some leadership voices? We lost alot in that department

Daniels was a loss, no doubt. But I think this was more of an individual issue. Toney and Barkate are elite leaders by example and the room we have now seems to be bought in.

With talk of the coaches loving the '25 class should of consolidated and went after a whale. No reason to bring in two guys who wont play over guys already in building who have equity and favoritism from the coaches. Then add politics of QB who bring his own demands and WR and that changes the math even more, 2nd portal would of resolved this but I said it from jump, just go get a DUDE.. clogging up room you already believe in just creates bad vibes, no matter how fans look at it.

Hard to get a whale without a QB. Ended up getting Barkate who was Top 10 nationally in yards.
