2026 Calvin Russell III

Oh okay I understand your point.
That team was literally the perfect example that it's not about getting elite recruits it's about developing the right people to an elite standard. Which is literally by the way the exact blueprint that we've always had at the University of Miami when we won at a high level. It wasn't about getting elite recruits it was about an elitedevelopment.

Why is he a must get? He's a development WR that wants to waste his time playing basketball too.

I'd take Keys or the Tenn commit over him 100/100 times.

Not evans

Russell looks faster than Evans easy…Not that I dislike Evans or anything. But Russell is explosive.

Ehh. Guess that depends what you mean by elite. Michigan couple years ago would disagree & so would plenty of others. Only thing NEEDS to be elite is development.
Michigans average HS class the 4 years leading up to natty was 12th, and that was the LOWEST 4 year HS average to win a national title in recruiting era.

No team has ever won a national title in recruiting era without at least 2 top 10 HS classes in the 4 years leading up to title.

Obviously development is key, but Harbaugh didn’t develop 30th best roster in football. They were top 10-12.

Coach Lucas when Mario makes him take Russell AND Lopez on the bball team

Nothing about that screams ELITE high school talent to me... Half the people on here say Mario isn't elite at recruiting. Harbough **** sure wasn't then.

I'm no Michigan fan. I'm also sure you're aware **** near every p4 team does some measure of what they were doing... He just got caught
Not to that degree.

They cheated on level that goes beyond what everybody else does.

I encourage you to look into the findings of the investigation, it wasn't just your run of the mill signal stealing.

I've seen some pretty wild measures employed throughout the years and I'll take your word for this case. For me it wasn't even the point of what they won. It's they had good but not elite RECRUITS & they developed them to a standard where the team was considered elite. Even if you say the reason for that play was cheating above and beyond the measures employed by others they still got elite individual play.

So has LSU offered him in basketball as well or is that only a requirement for us?
well lsu has one of their te's/wr playing basketball so thats something to show....and yes he was a freshman that actually plays

If LSU becomes Russells leader, and they already have Keys committed, I wonder if we can swing back around hard on Feaster. Think he was the guy most thought LSU was going to bring in as their other top guy. Though I suppose A&M would probably move up to #1 for him. But I'd try to get him in an OV asap. He's coming off his A&M visit. Scheduled to visit LSU next week.

Priority list should probably go like Keys > Russell / Feaster > Spafford / Jase Mathews > Wingo / Zion Robinson > Jasen Lopez > Brayden Robinson / Tyran Evans / Jayden Petit / Larry Miles

... idk if yall would agree with that

Well I'm always up for enlightenment so please educate me. Far as I remember that 2023 team had ONE CONSENSUS 5 STAR ON THE ENTIRE TEAM. That was Damon Payne. Who wasn't even a recruit they signed out of high school & he was a 2021 kid. The word ELITE has value. I'd assume to be ELITE they should be consensus 5 stars right? Ain't got nothing to do with where someone was drafted or anything else other than a consensus high school ranking. Cause y'all were speaking on recruits...
What is an elite recruit to you? Seriously asking, i don’t just see the star ranking and label them elite

Hence me in this same thread saying this 5 star kid is mid lol

Some kids we know what they are because we've had eyes on them. Most others the system fans choose to use is how it's decided what's elite and what's not. That's the various recruiting sights and their rankings. The consensus is the only bar whether some of us who knows the system know how rigged it is or not. Lord is it rigged. But it's the accepted medium all the same.

I agree..My thing is you’re saying we can’t call the kids Michigan recruited in this scenario elite because the systems didn’t? Even tho a bunch of them were very highly rated

To me if you evaluate a kid that’s not a 5star and he becomes an elite or very good college player then top nfl draft pick we should be able to call that you recruiting elite talent. Why would we measure with the guard rails of a system we know is flawed lol

That system should be used for like a big picture view not on an individual player level. For example it is shown that recruiting as much 5 stars and blue chip recruits as possible increases your chances at having elite talent but all 5 stars aren’t equal so you still have to evaluate so if u evaluate a 4star or 3star and they become an elite player thats still you acquiring elite talent to me
