Call Bill O'Brien

Not saying we should get Bill, but Miami tends to do best when the HC has NFL aspirations.
Solid point. I wouldn’t mind a mercenary coming with a goal to move up to the NFL. If he succeeded it would mean the program resumed winning, and hopefully set up to continue.

We’re worried about a coach staying before we have a coach winning.

We trying to win games or popularity contests? We've tried the nice guy route, maybe an ******* is what we need.
you do understand players wont play well for you if they hate you, right?

do you like working for a boss who is just a complete **** to everyone?

and before you pick the saban route, saban credits his players and helps them improve and defends them from stupid media. o'brien is just an *******.

I think it’s funny guys want dudes from the Midwest with a lifetime of experience in one state. But a guy who’s been at solid programs is not worth it.
Don’t forget BOB was in New England prior to penn St. he’s been around some good coaches, he can definitely coach. And it’s not some gimmick that only works against teams your light years more talented than, like Manny’s D or Lashlees offense.
My only request would be an alpha mentality. No more players coaches! They don’t work long term.

So you want another Coker/***/Manny?

When a team lacks basic skills like snap counts both offensively and defensively it’s a coaching issue. We have been plagued by terrible penalties for so long…

Do you understand that about 80% of us who are from Miami are ********. Most of these kids played for coaches who cussed them out daily. Coach doesn't have to be liked, just respected. What players really hate is a liar. As long as he's an ******* who keeps it a hundred, he'll get the most out of his players.

And I have worked for plenty of ******* bosses. As long as you're an ******* to everyone and don't play favorites, and don't lie, we can make it work.

dude, this is not a black/white thing. and its not that difficult to grasp either. when no player likes you, when the captains cant stand you because they cant be captains, when the assistant coaches cant even coach because you yell at them all the time, guess what: it wont work.

bill o brien isnt respected, just hated. thats why he literally got fired.

I was not aware that’s why he was canned.

However, I do want a hard ***. It’ll be an uphill climb due to the mess it’ll create initially, but these kids need more structure and accountability not less. Especially as they keep cashing NIL checks. It’ll be even easier to lose kids who just see the now and don’t work for the later.

If you have an article about him being fired because he was hated please post it. I thought he was fired due to his terrible personell moves. The dolphins finessed him out of several first round picks, and he got in his feelings and traded Hopkins for a running back who I don't even think is on Houston's roster right now.

Let’s be real here. The Texans are still terrible so was it really him that was the problem? And he was only the GM for a year prior to being let go.

Belicheck/Saban wouldn’t have the success they’ve had with their style if they weren’t piling up wins.

That’s always the balance you’d like to find.
I’m just saying I’d rather err on the other side of the edge this time around.

I also think, similar to Saban, you can get away with that style more in college. He’s not my number 1 choice. But I wouldn’t be mad if he was chosen. Heck, even the player in that article said he taught them how to be pros. That sounds like a quality we could use… lol

His approach doesn‘t work in the NFL. One cannot treat millionaire players like teenagers. Tom Coughlin had the same problem, until he realized his errors, lightened up and treated players like professionals. Won 2 Super Bowls, beating NE both times, including the 18-0 Pats. Make that 18-1.

In college, maybe this works, but you’d better be winning and putting players in the league because otherwise that shtick gets old real fast.

This is an EXCELLENT point that most people really don’t understand. People are too focused on the persona. There LOTS of ******** that lose games and can’t motivate.

It isn’t about the persona. It is the coach’s CHARECTER that matters. Whether a hard nosed disciplinarian or a laid back player’s coach, either approach can, and has, worked. The authenticity of his charecter and ability to command the belief and respect of those around him is what matters.

It generally comes down to confidence and integrity. How it is packaged is inconsequential.

O'Brien had everyone thinking Hackenburg was Petyon. He can flat out coach. He wont be giving out hugs anytime soon, as a former collegiate athlete, I wouldn't have given a **** truthfully. But, clearly, others are looking for a dad in their coach. Kids want to win, and go to the league. And, at a school located near metropolis area like Miami, I want to coach who sets clear boundaries
