Not even going to read a single reply as I am sure there are alot of butch slurppers in this and some haters as well. He shouldn't incite that much reaction either way. He was an Ok coach who made a dumbass mistake and left and he suffered for it and rightfully will never get within any where near a good program again. We hired a elite coach and he got the kinda job he deserved but I am very thankful for what he did here. He could recruit like the ****ens and obviously was lacking in the coaching part thus his deserved name Botch but a long thread on a UM board about and FIU coach is silly. None the less thank you Butch for making Miami hot with recruits again .

Good point...but by then the **** was out of the bag. They were beaten with a bunch of third stringers.
 
Butch is a decent coach and a great talent evaluator/player developer. He will win 6-7 games a year which is good for that school. Not much else to say. Not like he's going to make them a national contender. Not like he's going to be able to draw the big names. He gets himself a little more money to retire on and nothing more.

The biggest problem Butch is going to deal with other than FIU being a ****** program.

Identifying talent and keeping them under the radar like he did over 16 years a go.

Those recruits are easily identified and more appropriately ranked in todays college football

Mark Richt said Butch Davis to FIU was a home run hire.

I can't say I disagree with his assessment of the situation.
 
Davis went 51-20 at Miami from 1995 to 2000, taking over a program decimated by sanctions and scholarship losses and turning it into one that would dominate its way to the 2001 national title. He was with the Browns when that title was won, taking them to the playoffs in 2002 — the last postseason appearance for that franchise.

But but he sucks doe.....

I remember the time when a coach was asked about a coaching hire at another school and the guy said it wasn't a good hire.

No, wait...I don't remember that.

What did you expect him to say about a future opponent? OTOH, I agree that it is a great hire. I wanted Butch here.
 
He's such a god he couldn't get a job for 5 years lol, then; he gets one it's not Texas, or LSU, or Houston. No, no it's FIU the Florida powerhouse, let's see just how relavant he makes them.
