Bulldog Tears

The good news for uga fans is that even though Mark will several NCs at Miami he was never going win one at uga. The bad news is, neither is anyone else, unless another Hershel Walker walks througeh the door. See Miami wins big games with any good coach, uga does not.

If Mark was a better Coach, he would have won more at Georgia. He will win more at Miami because Miami will give him the edge that he lacks as a coach.

Uga has won massive number of NC since 1940 —— two. They just are not championship school. I doubt anyone will win there. Mark might win one some place else but Miami will definitely get him a couple. So I agree Miami gives him an edge, but I am not certain it is the only place he could win. We wil neve know cause he will finish his career at home.

I think Miami is the only place Mark can win big at. The program has Edge. The program has encouraged Mark to leave his comfort zone. Mark was not with anything like the turnover chain but went with it because Manny asked him to. Look at the results. Al Golden recruited good players. Al Golden couldn't win for obvious reasons. Mark knows how to win. Mark is winning with Golden's players. The program gives Mark that extra Edge that he lacked as a coach.

Like I said, we will never know that. The important thing is that mark will win here. The media will heap praises on him and we will love him, deservingly. But, he will be the 5th coach to win aNC here. As you say, Miami is special. But to do’s miss mark without credit is wrong. The special thing I think he has brought and given the team is confident CALMNESS it had only under Howard. I was worried he was too calm but it seems to have been a blessing. In January we will be cheering and drinking happy booze and the bulldogs will be crying and drink sad booze. Mark is family, has come home and together we have brought back The U.

He'll win more here because he has complete control over the program, which is something he didn't have at Georgia.

There's no proof of that. If he didn't have control, why did he turn down Miami multiple times? He said he would have never left Georgia. Does not sound like someone that had his hands tied behind his back.

I’m beating on the morning after winning the NC, he looks out and thinks, why didn’t I come home sooner.

Unless Bill Belichick is walking through that door, UGA isn’t winning an NC as long as they have to go through Auburn or Saban.

Mark is in a much better position in Miami.

Satan is 70 he won't be around more than 4 more years bank it... he's not in his 50's.

over the last year or so (during our 15 game win streak) and throughout UGA struggles last year (like losing to GT, whom Richt owned), i've really grown to hate UGA fans

they were so spoiled. They thought they were an elite program and deserved greatness. They were mediocre for decades and then Richt comes along and gives them more success than they know what to do with. He makes them relevant and his major hiccup is an administration that stripped him from his play calling with love for a weird guy named Bobo.

fast forward and one of the winningest coaches in football history in the toughest conference in football is forced out at what would end up being a 10-3 year (with no quarterback)

now two years later miami and that same HC is dominating the football world with a seemingly nobody at QB and their fans are hating every minute of it (bringing me a ton of joy)

While UGA is very good and top 10, that loss to auburn must have them thinking, "here we go again, another 10 win season with one or two blowouts"

this holiday season, i'm thankful for UGA fans for not understanding expectations.

I've been living in the Atlanta area for over 25 years, so I can tell you a couple of things about UGA. 1st they weren't mediocre for decades. UGA went through similar struggles like we did after Vince Dooley retired. After 2 bad hires (Goff, Donnan) the hired CMR.
UGA fans started getting restless after Bama & UF were winning NC's while UGA was not. Keep in mind Bama & UF had Saban & Urban.
UGA fans have a history of overestimating the status of their program.
A lot of talk around here the admin at UGA was meddling into the program. Most of the fanbase however was of the mindset that CMR could not win the big one so were putting pressure to have him leave.
When South Carolina started making waves about wanting Kirby Smart, who UGA coveted since he was an alum, donors put pressure to fire RIcht and get Smart, since they thought they would never have another chance at Smart.

With all that said, it seems very clear in the long run, we are going to better off

AS a CANE fan living in Ga for close to 37 years, your post is spot on!

^^^^^this^^^^. Miami gave Richt the keys to the car with no strings attached. At UGA, Richt had the keys to the car but he always had the chic in the passenger seat telling him what the f to do.

Wrong. Good coaches can win anywhere when the admin leaves them alone and gives them the resources they need to be successful. This is why the gaytors will be hard pressed to ever win big again. Their admin/boosters want to control everything

So you're basically conceding Georgia ain't Miami

The booster issue is why C Kelly is not going to UF, for any amount of money. It's also why Richt was increasingly miserable at UGA. UF was an even more irrelevant program than Vanderbilt until Meyer got there, and suddenly the big donors came out of the woodwork. They gave Meyer everything he wanted in terms of money, facilities, shielding players from prosecution, etc. But as the old saying goes, "There is no such thing as a free lunch." In exchange for giving Meyer what he asked for to build a winner, the donors expected to be schmoozed and have access to coaches and players. Every rich guy wants to be able to show off how important he is. Now that UF has had a taste of success, the donors are not going to take a step back. That's why any one who knows football knows that the next HC at UF has to be a coach /politician. No big name elite head coach will want to deal with that, and the elite coaches will always have options (honestly, if I was going to coach in the SEC, I'd coach at Arkansas where I'd have to kiss precisely one ***, that of Jerry Jones a la Phil Knight at Oregon instead of dozens of different entitled owners like at UF).

At UGA, when it looked like Richt's play calling was dropping off, the big time donors demanded he give up play calling or the donors would stop the funds. So the AD had to give him the ultimatum.

Miami's secret sauce is that we have never relied on big time donors (our head coach is putting up his own money for the IPF!) No matter how much success Richt has, he will never have donors breathing down his neck making demands. He and his assistants are being well compensated, play in one of the best stadiums in football, and have direct access to the greatest pool of talent in the country. Oh, and the ncaa is going to have to rescind that one mile radius rule for recruiting visits, as that is basically a cheat code for us.

The irony is that Richt's personality is actually well suited to a job like UF, where he could handle the donor pressure and have even better access to S FL talent. But we got him and he is going to build a juggernaut.

Gentlemen, this is year 2. We have played the entire year with what is essentially our backup qb, our backup rb, and without our best WR- and we have a very very very good chance of finishing the regular season as the #1 team in the country.

He didn't recruit well by Miami standards.

What the **** did I just read? Those people are nuts , I can't believe that's serious talk.

" Richt grew a beard, recruits black qbs and allows the turnover chain".....they're acting like that's evil or he's lost his Christianity. Wtf?!??

Ignorant as s rednecks, I can't even comprehend that or understand how one even comes to a conclusion like that.

I'm seriously shaking my head at this , my mind is blown.

I am hoping that UGa wins the SEC championship and we play them for the Natty. Good times.

Its been a win win for both programs.

Except they said Richt couldn’t win the big games......and the first big game Kirby has, he loses. Lmao..

I don't have any issues with the UGA fans but I kept telling em.. a big game against VT or FSU is a whole lot easier then a big game against Alabama then LSU then Florida then Tennessee then South Carolina in the same **** year in which some road games are in stadiums with 102,000 screaming fans.

VT doesn't recruit the athletes we do and FSU seems to fizzle out when Miami keeps the SFL kids home. Of course Richt didn't have a great "big games" percentage because every **** week in the SEC is a big game behind 2 ranked teams. At Miami Richt will have like 2 maybe 3 big games a year then get to beat up on basketball schools until the ACC title game. I find it hard to believe Richt won't continuously finish 11-1/10-2 here at Miami.

Why? Only one of those teams is any good.

Exactly! Folks giving the SEC too much credit...they were mediocre 10-15 years ago...only had UF during the Tebow years that were any good. Bama lost to UCF in 1998...UCF!!! before they were the UCF of this year. Currently, all of those teams or mediocre-Trash besides Bama and Auburn to a lesser degree

yep the auburn win over georgia is not an indication of how good auburn but an indication of how overrate UGA was

The closet SEC apologists on this board will never stop defending that conference, just look at the little faquits negging my post! CloSECt cases.

No, no, no. You are swallowing that SEC load. Just stop it. Football is a Southern sport, so by virtue of location the SEC can reap so many benefits that the Big 10 or Pac 12 just simply cannot.

But that's where the SEC glorification ends. The top 3 maybe 4 teams in the SEC each year can go toe-to-toe with anybody. But don't start including USCe, Tennessee and other mid-pack teams in that upper echelon. The entire conference is not that good no matter the media spin. Stop putting those mf's on a pedestal like that.
