Its been a win win for both programs.
Except they said Richt couldn’t win the big games......and the first big game Kirby has, he loses. Lmao..

I was at a home in Cartersville (east of 75) of a UGA booster after Kirby had finished his first season at UGA (and obviously Richt fired). He liked Richt, begrudgingly, and definitely felt good about the choice to get rid of Richt (he obviously helped pull the trigger) - didn’t think Richt could win the big ones, though Richt had finished with a better record than Kirby last year. I shared with him that Richt would win the ACC before Kirby wins the SEC. he’s getting a text on December 2.over the last year or so (during our 15 game win streak) and throughout UGA struggles last year (like losing to GT, whom Richt owned), i've really grown to hate UGA fans
they were so spoiled. They thought they were an elite program and deserved greatness. They were mediocre for decades and then Richt comes along and gives them more success than they know what to do with. He makes them relevant and his major hiccup is an administration that stripped him from his play calling with love for a weird guy named Bobo.
fast forward and one of the winningest coaches in football history in the toughest conference in football is forced out at what would end up being a 10-3 year (with no quarterback)
now two years later miami and that same HC is dominating the football world with a seemingly nobody at QB and their fans are hating every minute of it (bringing me a ton of joy)
While UGA is very good and top 10, that loss to auburn must have them thinking, "here we go again, another 10 win season with one or two blowouts"

this holiday season, i'm thankful for UGA fans for not understanding expectations.
I've been living in the Atlanta area for over 25 years, so I can tell you a couple of things about UGA. 1st they weren't mediocre for decades. UGA went through similar struggles like we did after Vince Dooley retired. After 2 bad hires (Goff, Donnan) the hired CMR.
UGA fans started getting restless after Bama & UF were winning NC's while UGA was not. Keep in mind Bama & UF had Saban & Urban.
UGA fans have a history of overestimating the status of their program.
A lot of talk around here the admin at UGA was meddling into the program. Most of the fanbase however was of the mindset that CMR could not win the big one so were putting pressure to have him leave.
When South Carolina started making waves about wanting Kirby Smart, who UGA coveted since he was an alum, donors put pressure to fire RIcht and get Smart, since they thought they would never have another chance at Smart.
With all that said, it seems very clear in the long run, we are going to better off
The good news for uga fans is that even though Mark will several NCs at Miami he was never going win one at uga. The bad news is, neither is anyone else, unless another Hershel Walker walks through the door. See Miami wins big games with any good coach, uga does not.

If Mark was a better Coach, he would have won more at Georgia. He will win more at Miami because Miami will give him the edge that he lacks as a coach.

Unless Bill Belichick is walking through that door, UGA isn’t winning an NC as long as they have to go through Auburn or Saban.
Mark is in a much better position in Miami.

He'll win more here because he has complete control over the program, which is something he didn't have at Georgia.

Uga has won massive number of NC since 1940 —— two. They just are not championship school. I doubt anyone will win there. Mark might win one some place else but Miami will definitely get him a couple. So I agree Miami gives him an edge, but I am not certain it is the only place he could win. We wil neve know cause he will finish his career at home.

There's no proof of that. If he didn't have control, why did he turn down Miami multiple times? He said he would have never left Georgia. Does not sound like someone that had his hands tied behind his back.

Before Richt got there they were 20 years without winning the SEC. People quickly forget. It's funny because I haveneem thinking. We always talking about us winning 5 National titles which should have been more, the amazing thing about that is we did it with 4 different coaches, and if u give Butch credit, it's 5. It's crazy. I'm trying to search but there is not one other program in the country who has done that.
I tell people we are not lucky when coaches come here. The coaches are.
