It’s reasonable to question if he’s the second best receiver on the roster. I could see him getting shutdown by a higher caliber corner due to sheer athleticism. Definitely more upside in Wingo/Moore but they have to put it together, so I’d expect Barkate to have more production
I have a hard time believing that kid won’t be a Cane. I think he’ll be the easiest pull, save someone like Isaac who’s still local at WR…Braylon Clark might be best of the bunch. I also love the other raw poly kid.
Agreed, but proximity to home + familiarity due to former teammates, including potential starting qb Tramell Jones, & perceived superior competition of the SEC is still a sales pitch. How can UF have any chance if a proven track record is one of the criteria. No matter what Sumrall does this year, he won't have a proven track record.
People here are really sleeping on this kid.
One situation is set, one is variable. Every school they lock in on will have the ability to develop him. He aint gonna have UF and FSU types in there. It will be school with very recent success and current momentum. Everyone will be willing to throw money at him, does money have a static value? It will not come down to money as everyone will be willing to throw big money at him, the ability to develop him and have him play for a title will win out
If only we had some proof points on his production playing in the same conference we currently play in.It’s reasonable to question if he’s the second best receiver on the roster. I could see him getting shutdown by a higher caliber corner due to sheer athleticism. Definitely more upside in Wingo/Moore but they have to put it together, so I’d expect Barkate to have more production
100% correct. Barkate will be open 24/7. Amazing to me anyone can reasonably question his talent. There’s plenty of film available. Pulling him with Mensah was a total underestimated haul. The better Moore, Wingo, Upshaw, Vaughan & Jacobs are the better Mali & Barkate will be.I still can’t believe we got this MF.
For real. It’s an embarrassment of riches in that room. We got dudes who legit probably start here during periods of the last 20 years who won’t even play save garbage time. It’s wild. WR7 would be WR2 on previous rosters and that’s not hyperbole.
It would also help if we had his old QB to bring in with him.If only we had some proof points on his production playing in the same conference we currently play in.
Bad take.... because you're ASSUMING no one portals out. Which we all know, someone or multiple will. One thing I think we can all agree on..after this year..we shouldnt have to go to the portal for WR depth for awhile. We are absolutely loaded even going into next year.
Partly that, but also that he's not 6'3+ and running a sub 4.5. Some people think every guy needs to be a Randy Moss/Andre Johnson equivalent to have a good WR group.lol why don’t the guys questioning if Barake is any good just go ahead and say it’s because he’s white. Just jokes everyone but seriously did you all not follow college football if you don’t think the kid is any good?
Gaby has an article where he projects the future lineup including rising SO’s (Mali), freshmen (Wingo) and 2027 recruits. One thing I think we can all agree on..after this year..we shouldnt have to go to the portal for WR depth for awhile. We are absolutely loaded even going into next year.
I felt the same way. On record, I questioned the 4.65 running vanilla face. His look does not inspire confidence, I feel that. But he made a ton of plays in the spring and looked like a beast. He has chemistry with Mensah. And he is available. Moore going down and being banged up, like wtf. He is a beast, but a beast on the sidelines does you no good. It’s reasonable to question if he’s the second best receiver on the roster. I could see him getting shutdown by a higher caliber corner due to sheer athleticism. All he did was twinge his hamstring. Moore is 100% now and will be fine for the season.I felt the same way. On record, I questioned the 4.65 running vanilla face.
