I felt the same way. On record, I questioned the 4.65 running vanilla face. His look does not inspire confidence, I feel that. But he made a ton of plays in the spring and looked like a beast. He has chemistry with Mensah. And he is available. Moore going down and being banged up, like wtf. He is a beast, but a beast on the sidelines does you no good.

Players do get injured. That's why you have more than 3 good WRs.

I remember people being down on Mesidor because of the injuries. Then he plays his way into the 1st Round.

FWIW Barkate plays a lot faster than 4.65. Jacolby George also ran a 4.65, but he looked a lot faster than that on the field.

Bad take.... because you're ASSUMING no one portals out. Which we all know, someone or multiple will.

We also thought the RB room would portal out and nobody did. Even if we lose hypothetically a Josh Moore because Wingo takes his spot…We have taken 7 WRs between this class and last class. Only 4-5 guys can play. Jmo but unless we lose 2-3 guys to the portal I think we are okay.

Kind of pointless to do this, IMO. It's literally 100.0% guesswork. Nobody has any clue how this room will look in 2027, including the coaches.

However, they are doing what they should be doing in terms of stocking it up to the point where, if/when things do shake, you're more than fine. This is a very, very, very, very good problem to have. I'm with you, I'd be shocked if all the kids on the 2026 roster were here in 2027, but again, we don't know. What I am FULLY confident in, though, is whoever is here in 2027 are going to be the best of the best from that room, which is really all that matters. Cream rises to the top. It will here too.

I think he's good because he's white. Not joking. Any transfer with good numbers has me skeptical but a white wide receiver baller who killed it at Duke? Just get that a kid a headset & some touchdown rings bc that kid is going places.

I agree, but watching the tape a lot of the production was play call design. But it’s more a credit to a WR room in saying it’s no unreasonable one of those guys can step up and meet their upside

I have a hard time believing that kid won’t be a Cane. I think he’ll be the easiest pull, save someone like Isaac who’s still local at WR…

the crazy part is Isaac's dad was in hs with us as well as Mcarthur with Tua'One's aunts n uncles who were are class mates n teammates.

Thats what I been thinking too. Could see A&M try to get in it as well. UF if they had some miraculous season would try. FSU is too *** and not spending enough. Bama is the one that could also get in it imo. Deboer at UW had a lot of good WRs. If their offense does good, they will have a young QB who will still be there....But idk if they'd be wanting to spend that at wr....

It’s reasonable to question if he’s the second best receiver on the roster. I could see him getting shutdown by a higher caliber corner due to sheer athleticism. Definitely more upside in Wingo/Moore but they have to put it together, so I’d expect Barkate to have more production

Maybe Taint is willing to spend $100M on croots and this is irrelevant.....or, just maybe, they're prioritizing the top of their boards and they're not going to sign the 3 best WRs in America next class.

I'll believe Taint is fully out on a top tier WR when I see it, but I'm absolutely leaning that we are much more in the game for Wright at this point than they are.

There probably aren’t enuf touches for ALL: don’t sleep on Josh Moore that kid is a beast waiting to explode- I hope he gets the opportunity- I take nothing away from Wingo, Vaughn, and the multitude of others
But I’ll bet Barkate is Mensah’s Xavier Restrepo

He's enough to be #1 at about 110 schools. He's a Day 2 NFL pick. He is a really, really good player in his own right.

But no, he won't be Mensah's Restrepo. Mali is Mensah's Restrepo. The slot WR is the funnel in Dawson's offense. Go look at Tank Dell's production at Houston. Look at Resrepo and Mali here. The passing game runs through him.

Where Barkate comes in is he's a better CJ Daniels in this offense. I expect him to play the Z, and he's got instant telepathy with our QB. On broken plays/scramble drill, they'll be on the same page. But Mali is gonna catch 100 balls again.

Our OL has been great since Mario got here but Cam faced a lot of pressure. Some was his own doing but not always

I expect that with Mensah. Mensah has elite footwork moving around the pocket in my humble opinion. He could run for 1,000 yards probably like Cam could have but he always keeps eyes downfield. He’s a souped up version of Jennings from SMU. Not a direct comparison but just remind me of eachother

Mali and Coop are gonna be absolute fuggin nightmares for DBs when this happens

I beg to differ- respectfully— Baby Jezuz will be option one, granted— but everyone will by spying or double covering him— which leads to opportunities for our other WRs

Don’t discount the chemistry aspect — Barkate has the same I intangibles as restrepo great route runner, catches everything- but also can get open deep as well- to the X man’s forte.

Agreed upgrade from CJ but b/c they have so much experience together I’d expect he gets plenty of looks as a #2 wide out
