Bryan Pata case update - upcoming bond hearing for Jones

I don’t even know in a retrial how you make his involvement more concrete

But the fact remains, there are people convicted on cold cases all the time.

They need to do a better job of presenting the cell phone locational evidence. Perhaps get the girlfriend to testify. Maybe get more players to testify. Still not sure it will result in a conviction, but you have to make the effort to try to erase the MASSIVE incompetence on the part of the police.

If you look at Jones now in the courtroom, you can kind of see he looks like a beaten man, he looks like he doesnt sleep much and isnt enjoying life.

Its crazy to think that majority of people there said he wasn’t guilty.

But, it is a mostly circumstantial case.

I think he is guilty but I also don't think you can convict someone for murder based off the evidence they're presenting. Both the state and Miami PD are so inconceivably inept in all facets of this, honestly the best resolution is to just let this die, have the Pata's sue them for negligence, pay them off, and be done with all this. I know that's gross and if I said that to someone in Bryan's family, they'd be justified in knocking my teeth out, but this whole thing is incredibly ugly and pathetic.

First of all-"not guilty" does NOT mean "innocent." It means that there is one reasonable view of the world in which the defendant did not commit the crime. Our system allows many wrongdoers to walk. That is a societal choice over having innocents punished. I do not know if this defendant killed Pata. I do know it is tragic for his family to not know that his killer has been punished. From what I have read, the police-state attorney did a poor job of investigating this murder. I feel for the family irrespective of the ultimate outcome.

Prosecutors intend to retry Jones. I bet next time they call Jada Brody as a witness. She had a relationship with Jones and Pata. Very odd she wasn’t called as a witness.

SHES EASILY FOUND ON INSTAGRAM...showing skin.

I dont think she send anything over the hump considering they had Jones gf at the time testify...he wasnt even wit the brody girl at the time of the murder.

Read the ESPN article someone linked above. Jurors said they kept hearing about Jada at the trial but were surprised they never heard directly from the horse’s mouth. Neither the prosecution nor defense called her as a witness. Seems odd if they’re mentioning her quite a bit in terms of a motive.

I think they need to present it as the source of friction, but not motive in-and-of-itself.

Have Jada (and some of the former teammates) testify as to disagreements/jealousies. It seems like there were other issues in Jones life, such as the drug test and not being projected as an NFL draft pick that were things that may have also led him into a murderous frame of mind.

they appeared to have a bunch of teammates up there. those willing to go.

Just dont see how this guy would be convicted.

I’m shocked they are moving forward. I was under the impression the prosecution had something new. They have nothing new and just brought in more players who weakened their case because they all said they never saw him with a gum and never even heard anything about owning a gun. They’re wasting everyone’s time and just embarrassing themselves. The only ones guilty of anything are MPD and the prosecution for being absolute inept retards

Racism / Bigotry
Hi everyone, I wanted to come in and offer my insight on the Bryan Pata case, in particular after listening to the recent podcast. I also understand Omar Kelly has definitely stated that Rashaun Jones did not kill Bryan Pata. I tend to agree with Omar, and Omar is as knowledgeable and connected as anyone in South Florida circles. To me it seems more likely that it had something to do with Patas lifestyle. I’m going to choose my words carefully here but Pata had a number of guns, drove flashy cars, always had a lot of cash on him, had gold teeth, a lot of tattoos, dreadlocks. He was not a friendly looking fellow. Coaches like Randy Shannon said he primarily associated with noted troublemakers like Willie Williams, and others with gang and drug ties. In other words he wasn’t spending his time with guys like Greg Olson, Kyle Wright, or Kirby Freeman. Maybe Pata was dealing drugs and was skimming money from one of the gangs or something? Again, this is not just me saying this-you have noted experts like Omar Kelly saying the same thing.

This is an absurd post, bud.

You come in here to sully the name of a former Cane who was killed.

And, your backup is ‘well, Omar Kelly said so, too.’

There is still time to delete this. I’ll be happy to delete mine if you do.

"drove flashy cars, always had a lot of cash on him, had gold teeth, a lot of tattoos, dreadlocks. He was not a friendly looking fellow."

The horror.

I can't believe you listed any of that as some sorta proof of his "lifestyle".

Omar Kelly has been doing this for 30+ years, bud. He’s as respected and connected as anyone. A gentleman like Omar ain’t publicly saying something like that if he doesn’t have rock solid sources, likely from a a combination of the police, street people, former Miami coaches and players.

Please get the **** out of here and never come back again.

First, Omar Kelly knows nothing about this situation. I don't even think he was covering the Hurricanes at the time, he had moved to the Dolphins. "Knowledgeable" and "connected" has zero bearing on this situation.

Second, YOU PERSONALLY know nothing about this situation. I lived in the apartment complex where Bryan Pata was shot, it is gated, it is on a side street, the actual place where he was shot is an interior area with only a few apartments that would have had visibility.

Unlike your GROSS STEREOTYPING, this was not about Bryan's guns or cars or cash or teeth or tattoos or dreadlocks. You are a clueless Nebraska **** who has no ability to gauge or comprehend what is normal about behavior or personal appearance in Miami, particularly the area of Miami where Bryan LIVED and was shot.

Furthermore, Randy Shannon said NOTHING of the type that you have said. You brought up Willie Williams' name solely for shock value. I notice you "contrasted" that name by listing the name of three other players, all of whom are white.

It is obvious what you are doing and why.

You won't be here for long.

And, again, Omar Kelly doesn't know ****. Nor is he an expert. He is not respected and he is not connected. You continuing to repeat that bull**** is evidence of your agenda.

Just ban him. Look at the join date, look at the screen name, look at the posts. It's beyond obvious.

ah, I see. This is trolling or rage bait. Good luck with that and your incredibly strong logic around here.
