Bruce Feldman: "UGA top underachieving teams past 10 yrs"

Mark Richt will kill it here. He is a good coach. He will have more talent in his backyard. And now that UGA fired him I believe he will have a chip on his shoulder. There were probably 5-7 teams he had that were 1 game away from getting the job done. He also, for some reason, had bad luck with the injury bug at UGA. Just watching the buzz around the program, listening to his interviews, etc, and with the old players now wanting to come back and get involved the sky is the limit. I think he will be here for 10 yrs and challenge for multiple ships IMO. Even with the influx of better coaches in the ACC, the path to get to the playoffs is still much easier than the SEC. Think about it for a sec. He won 75% of his game while at UGA. Say what you want but that's quite impressive. I have no doubts we will be back and very soon.

So many excuses.

Did Richt smash your wife?

You're not allowed to officialy marry goats in florida yet. They're "partners".

Whatever you say boss. I want to win and we need studs like Jeudy to win, tomorrow all that matters is he's going to Bama and a lot of that credit will be going to mario. Meanwhile we're stuck with Coach Duganberry.
Mario wasn't pulling cats like Jeudy at FIU. They are not going for him. They are going for Bama and Saban. ZERO credit goes to Mario.

Then you're gonna rip one of our coaches for a player that the previous staff didn't even talk to? The coaches that are actually making us a consideration after years of irrelevance. GTFO. Go root for FSU.

KevinCaneFace you're right. I edited my response about Coach Dugan. He did get us in the mix with him, but still this is the second place mentality that I'm so sick of Canes fans settling for. "But Coach Dugan was able to somewhat persuade Jeudy when the previous staff did not talk to him, GOOD for him" :fap:

I will give Dugan a pass this one time for you, but we need to keep these guys on short leashes. Bottom line: Jeudy needs to be a Cane and this staff has been here for almost 7 or 8 months now. That's plenty of time to recruit and turn a top kid. I mean even Golden was able to turn and persuade Coley to come to Miami in under a month.

Bama was a year ahead of this staff with Jeudy....this one ain't on them....Jeudy doesn't want to be a cane. Simple as that

Excuses IMO. We need to find someone who makes them wants to be Canes. That's what winners do. Obviously Bama found someone who made him want to go there. 8 months more than enough time.
You're stupid. The best program in the nation with one of the winningest coaches in history recruits a guy a year longer than a new coach whose program has been mediocre since the kid was 5 and you really expect things to go differently? Underdogs need more time put into a player not less time. Nobody's making excuses. This coaching staff hasn't had a game yet and signing day is a long way out. Stop being a little troll.

Listening to Pete's interview (great interview by the way Pete) and heard Bruce mention that. Pretty crazy, considering Miami is prob #2 on that list and we end up hiring former HC of #1 .

I'm hoping Richt turns it around, but couldn't history like that come back and bite us in the ***??? Just like how Goldens under achievements at Temple translated over to Miami.

Before I ask "why?"...

I've got plenty of numbers that will support this. Check out Richt's record vs top 15 teams (I know what it is, but I'll let you do the work). And, to be honest with you I always thought his UGA teams were a little over rated, along with a few other teams in the SEC.

That being said, now I'll ask. Why?

Richt has been our coach for 8 months now. He's back to calling plays, coaching his QB's and seems to be reinvigorated.
The season starts in 5 weeks and i'm behind coach 1000%.

Why, 8 months later are you stiiiiiiiiiiiill questioning the hire???
As a Miami fan, I would think at some point over the past off-season you'd just
get on board and go with it. I mean there's just so much time and energy one could expend on being speculative.

It's now time to watch, then assess the on-field results when we have them.

Too late now, but it's easy to react as opposed to acting.
Who was your available guy 8 month ago?

GA is fertile recruiting ground but they're competing with the SEC, Clemson, FSU.

That's a tough place to win big unless you have deep pockets like Bama/Auburn.

I don't see how you can call me stupid, maybe impatient? I want to win and I'm tried of excuses like you're making above, I've heard 10 years of excuses from this fanbase. Because we're losing Jeudy and Grimes not even recruiting, I'm concerned about some of the offensive recruiting. I believe you get what you pay for. Look at Coach Kool, we got and paid for the best Now we've already landed a Top 5 DE all the way from Cali. Yet at WR we cannot even get two kids down the street to give us the time of day. Get a guy like Tee Martin, Trob, or if Richt would have brought Lily or rehire Curtis Johnson after he got fired at Tulane, think we might be in discussion more with Jeudy.

Guys. For fhuck's sake.

Before Richt got to Georgia, they had spent 20 years without a conference division title (excluding '92).

That means that for the 20 years before Richt, they only managed to win the SEC East once, and get a 10 win season twice.

That all changed with Richt, he created a winning team.

Richt's UGA team made it to 5 SEC championship games in 15 years. Three of those games they lost to the team that went on the win the national championship.

Coaching and quality team depth in this conference is lacking a bit compared to the SEC so as far as I'm concerned he'll be fine.

I just can't believe after all this crap they're still together! GoldensButtcheeks

Let me tell you it's a challenge. The only reason they're still open is because Coach D likes to fly up to Detroit every once awhile and sniff around.

So many EFFING GATOR and NOLE trolls!

he went 9-3 two years in a row after losing gurley and cubb. he prob beats UT last year if Cubb's leg dont snap in half

If he can do what he did at UGA here our fans will be ecstatic. He was plays away from beating bama in 2012 SEC championship game.

Georgia was a strong team before Right. They won 5 national titles. Vince Dooley had them at the top of the SEC perennially.

I still like the Richt hire, but it is a concern that he didn't win a title at Georgia. They have all the resources for one.

You know what Georgia doesn't have, Miami Recruits, if we win everything else will take care of itself
