Brockermeyer

Correct. Been saying the same for a while now. In terms of pure run blocking, the transition from Rivers/Carpenter to the combination of Samson & Rivers with Brock is simply not as effective.

We ran the same plays last year into the same fronts with basically the same backs, and the results were much different. Not real hard to figure out why.

This is why I hope we lean into the pass a little more early in games. I saw something that Miami has given up ZERO pressures against non-blitz defenses the entire season. You should be able to be really efficient if you know they have to rush 5+ to even pressure you. Embrace that, you have a better pass blocking OL than run blocking. So embrace it, trust your 5 up front to win, as they have all year, and you can even get backs into routes because you don't need to keep someone in unless they bring 5+.

Right now, we are 49th in the country in highest rush percentage. Last year we were 112th. 55% this year to 45% last year. I understand our QB isn't as good, but I said all off-season we didn't pay this guy what we did to come hand the ball off every play, and he's not (49th in the country isn't exactly Navy or Army), but it's certainly a lower mix than last year. I'm not sure if that's just Cam vs Beck, or a combination of them thinking the receivers are worse as well, but I think it's time to get closer to a 50/50 split.
i mean a huge part of the diff is cam ward too. he changed calls at the line and teams couldnt load up with cam back there. they have no worries w beck. theyll live with him beating them but more often than not, he cant see the field well and **** turn it over more often than not. they need to get more creative. they can still run where they want but they have to make it look different to the defense so they stop loading up.

I don't see much difference in box numbers. FSU did play us that way, and they got torched. But we're not gaining big yards because safeties and nickels are making tackles, IMO. We're not getting push on the interior like we were last year.

I don't think college has near the verified analytics that the NFL does, but there is a site I trust pretty well, they seem to do a good job, and they have Miami at 104th in the country in yards before contact. 1.69. That stinks, obviously. And I don't think it's a byproduct of how defenses are playing us, not nearly as much as it is our overall run blocking. I don't see last year's number, but I know it was WAY better than that.

The backs aren't helping, either. We're 75th in yards after contact, and 121st in missed tackle rate.

So, we get hit less than 2 yards downfield, we don't break any tackles, and we fall forward a little bit to the tune of 75th in the country. All that adds up to some pretty poor yards per carry numbers, and some even worse explosive run numbers.

We are somehow 7th in rushing success rate. I think a lot of that is due to picking up a lot of 3rd and 4th and shorts via the run game. I think we've only been stopped on 3rd or 4th and 2 or less less than 5 times all year? So those successful plays when we run on 3rd and 2 or 4th and 1 and get first downs add up.

this is an issue of our backs i agree. we have one who has home run potential right now and its lyle (we dont use him properly). fletcher and brown dont have the game breaking speed. martinez had both imo (ability to break a big run and break tackles).

Brock's issues are covered pretty well in this thread. He isn't playing bad overall. In my opinion, without question, Cooper has been our best OL this season. Si Si isn't going Top 10. The OL is very good, but needs play calling to help them. Instead they lie, get confrontational and troll our media. I said 20 times before the season, this season is 100% on coaching.

Pringle is the true HR potential
Guess lyle is closest to ones most likley not red shirting
