Have seen plenty of folks on social media highlighting him constantly getting blown up in the run game.
Is this the reason for a limited run game?
Would love to know if people are seeing similar things. Is he considered a miss in the portal?
When we have the center as the weakest link in the OL and a QB who is primarily a pocket passer... it is trouble.
We have shore up the middle of the line or move the pocket...
Bear fronts and rain aren’t his friend. We have played 5 of 7 games in the rain. We have played three games in a row with bear fronts for him to face. He has done ok but he is just under sized when facing big NT bodies.
My biggest issue, his bad snaps and penalties
I actually agree with your assessment of his weaknesses and that he’s at his best when pass blocking and pulling. He’s just not a good fit for this offense with how much we run A gap, especially when we’re doing it out of 12 and 23 personnel. The snaps have been really bad though. Not saying he’s trash at the college level but I doubt he even makes it onto a practice squadSee post above. We run duo a ton so those DT get moved with help from cooper or McCoy. His issue is inside zone vs bear fronts in short yardage, rain ( god we have played a ton of rain games), penalties. The later two are minor and compound. Rain + inside zone vs bear on short yardage= need to snap faster= potential for bad or penalties…
Kid isn’t a top 5 center but he isn’t trash. He likely makes a nfl team or practice squad. The gms have years of film on him. He is dang good at pass pro which is important at that level more so than short yardage in rain vs NT.
I’m actually surprised about the snaps being that he’s coming from a traditional spread system.I actually agree with your assessment of his weaknesses and that he’s at his best when pass blocking and pulling. Predictable play calling it’s not doing an offensive line any favorsHave seen plenty of folks on social media highlighting him constantly getting blown up in the run game.

SMU has two DTs that are big and will present an issue for the line Webb and M’ba are 310+ DT. I haven’t watched them play since the OT of Baylor. Pretty sure they run a normal 4/3 with the DTs in the gaps 1T and 3T.
I came here to say this lol..our entire offensive scheme is directly tied to our worst player on offenseWhen we have the center as the weakest link in the OL, a QB who is primarily a pocket, and a run game that is mainly runs straight up the middle.... what could go wrong?
Also, I have never seen so many passes tipped at the line of scrimmage, that too from a 6'3" QB.

U would think ur HC OC and OL coach seeing bear fronts would spread those teams out but who am I to second guess them. I’m just some jerk off on a message boardBear fronts and rain aren’t his friend. He's a weakness but the real problem is the rest of the interior of our OL is not good run blocking either, like they had planned, to compensate for his weakness in his game.
LG has been a real problem and Cooper has always graded pretty low as a run blocker.
This can't be said enough. Our interior OL play this year has been average at best - this is probably part of the execution issue that Mario hints at regarding the run game issues. He's a weakness but the real problem is the rest of the interior of our OL is not good run blocking either, like they had planned, to compensate for his weakness in his game.

**** I remember that, I remember fans thinking that was a S/C issue. That was a bad player issue, dark times man.One thing I've noticed is pad level between the G*C*G is too high on run blocks. Pay attention to it on short yardage downs. It should be a point of emphasis at every practice. Sunday thru Friday.
