That was a different time for QB stats. In general they've improved over the years as the passing game has become a bigger part of the offense. But, Kelly wasn't here for the great Miami teams, it was just starting to get built up - something he contributed greatly to.

But more importantly, Kelly was an EASY hall of famer, while the other QB's aren't anywhere close. That's why it's Kelly.

In addition to the stats comment.. Regardless of Era.. 14 TD's against 14 INT's is the same regardless of year it was played in.

Simply go back and watch how Kelly threw the deep ball. Yeah, I'd take him back in a second in today's game.

True, but he was also a freshman on a punching bag Miami team at the time.

I take Kelly all day. The guy was a great QB and he was a football player - most schools wanted him to play LB. Having that combination lead the team once again would do wonders. QB U has been in a serious drought, and it would be nice to go back to the man that got it all started.

If our QB can't hit his targets with protection, does having a great OT change much? Now, McKinnie might be my second pick, once we have a QB in place worthy of protection. He was the best I ever saw here at the position.
 
Apologies, you were referencing his JR year. Was probably Travis Benjamins fault (as Radio always like to blame any INT).

I think we have the answer to our QB problems on the roster already (Perry).

I don't think we have a LT solution currently.

Jim Kelly or Jerome Brown are the smartest choices, but Hester would be fun to watch again
 
1a. Jerome Brown
1b. Warren Sapp
1c. Ted Hendricks
1d. Ed Reed
1e. Sean Taylor
1f. Ray Lewis

None of the great QBs in Miami's past, except perhaps Vinny, would run RPOs.
 
We make the playoffs this year with good QB play. Kelly easily.
