Brenden Sorsby- The Gambling Addiction

Anyone know why the NCAA did not remove this case to federal court? The value of the injunctive relief to Sorsby FAR exceeds $75k. Complete diversity of citizenship. Why would the NCAA sit on its hands and get homered on an important issue like this? Am I missing something?

Also, Sorsby is overhyped and not very good.

Because the fact is the NFL would probably actually punish Sorsby with a suspension IF he was fully ruled ineligible THEN entered supplemental draft. Because then he never actually receives a punishment. NFL has done that a lot tbh. But not technically he is ruled eligigible just with a 2 game suspension, so maybe if he did go supplemental he'd only serve a small or no suspension. And a team may still draft him with a 2nd or 3rd value pick.
And then Tech avoids dealing with all the fallout.

I also still think the CFP should just come out now and say that they can view a player being ruled ineligible as justification for CFP entry... If after the fact he is in fact ruled ineligible by NCAA, then they could still void all their games and that harms the CFP.

Me thinks the NCAA wants to take these Ls so they can garner public sympathy, remain in business, and get an antitrust exemption from the government.

God I hope sorsby goes out there's and puts on a neil O'Donnell super bowl performance....I get that he's techs unquestioned starter since they paid him a lot but IDK how you can back your own player with a history of betting on his own games

I’m skeptical they will. I don’t see the brass, or more appropriately put the check writers saying no.

We’re talking about people worth hundreds of millions to billions. They aren’t used to being told no. They get pushback then just burn money to fix problems. They won’t care if those W’s stack up. Same guys who offered to pay TT and UT’s buyouts of OOC games to schedule them playing each other. Their limit for what’s right and wrong is gone. They clearly couldn’t care less if TT wins games.

Now the players might feel differently. Do you want to be booed, heckled relentlessly and god knows what else over a guy who’s literally played just a spring there?

The only scenario I see TT unilaterally deciding to not play him is the CFP says they’ll honor the NCAA’s decision to not put them into the playoff.
