Brenden Sorsby- The Gambling Addiction

I totally understand your points, but as someone very involved in the gambling space, I don’t think this is the same as what we did with Mensah.

If we end up with an SEC/Big Ten dominant sport down the road, Tech did themselves no favors today.

I expect the Big12 to take action, and in addition, there’s growing rumors the CFP (an individual body in itself) can take substantial action as well, if/when the time comes. A committee made up of ADs that despise you…sounds like a good reason to be left out of the playoff.

Money runs the show and people like Cody Campbell don't answer to politicians and university presidents. Politicians, university presidents, and conference commissioners are gophers for a billionaire like Campbell. Don't get confused.

 
If anything the SEC and the Big 10 might use TT as the fake reason for them to merge. And, you best believe TT will be at the table when it's time for a merger. They have too much money. And, people won't turn money down.

Two: if Sorsby plays then the season is going to be absolutely toxic for Texas Tech. If they make the playoffs it'll get even worse, because they'll have taken a spot from someone who will likely go nuclear on the PR trail. I'm not sure I'd want this if I was TT.

So you would actually give a **** what other people thought of your CFP football team? You’re weak.

To me, it's business, not morality, that drives the reactions. It's the fact that if the public believes players can play while betting on their own sports, the necessary evil - gambling - will go away for that sport. It's why the biggest sin for every sport organization is to have its players or coaches betting on their games.

It's the one thing sports have over every other form of entertainment - an unknown outcome. Take away the thought outcomes are determined on the field of play and it's pro wrestling, not a sport.

they'll care when they dont get an invite to the CFP and all that money spent was for nothing

I don't disagree with you. The thing is we all saw something like this coming. Now, the money 304s want to act like they have morals.

If Sorsby is permitted to play, and TT qualifies for the CFP based on their play, TT is going to the playoffs.

Now will Sorsby actually play? This injunction is going to go unanswered from the NCAA and their lawyers

End up with an SEC/Big Ten dominant sport? We're there already. Look at the payouts for the playoff now.

The TT billionaire is at the head of the push to get the P2 to share their TV riches with the other conferences through this act of Congress. All this Sorsby situation does is give the P2 solid ground to attempt to keep TT from competing for championships in the playoff, gain membership in the P2 or Super League (whatever the future may hold), or any other plans they pursue.

It would not surprise me to see TT suddenly decide that the best way to "heal" Mr. Sorsby is a 6 month stay at an addiction clinic where he will unfortunately, not be able to play this season.

I know this board is full of SEC hate- but this is a swing and a miss. Schools in their own conference are looking for ways out. And the two situations aren’t remotely connected.

40 bets during an 8 week period involving Indiana as a team as well as player prop bets of his teammates. It’s been reported that all bets regarding the team were in favor of winning. Nothing on the player prop bets has been reported.
