Sorsby is clearly an addict. And possibly to more than jsut gambling (but hopefully not). He needs treatment more than he needs to play football because without it, his entire life will be one misstep after another will trying to get the next “hit”.

I hope the sports world gives him the room to make this about his health and not about the sport. That has never happened for Tiger Woods and we see the impact of an untreated addiction on his life. He’s 50 years old and still doing the same stupid sh*t because he never gets real help.

‘Real help’ for addiction comes from deep within each individual. It’s almost never extrinsically motivated. I have a family member who’s now approximately 15 years sober and we went through **** on earth before he accepted help. This is often the result of a catastrophe or monumental trauma, and the person has to then use that as an opportunity for humility.

There are libraries of research and literature on this stuff, but it all leads back to one place: the individual. For many, that becomes the individual’s relationship to some higher power (humility).

Good luck to the kid. If he’s truly an addict, it’s a lifelong road. For him and all of those around him. And, if you’re jumping in the hole to help an addict, good luck to you, too.

the sad part is (you see it with the vrabel stuff too) is that no one will ever know outside of sorsby if he is or he isn't bc a ton of people use "rehab" or "Counseling" as a cover to avoid more bad PR.

tiger woods has been to rehab how many times and hes still a pill popper? hes never been serious about getting clean and he really hasnt faced a single consequence for it. hes just done all this bc he got caught.

for sorsbys sake, the fallout from this will help him truly get clean if hes an addict.

I could not have written this any better. My son fought us off for over a year before he finally accepted help. And even longer before he accepted that he was powerless over the addiction.

9 months clean this week.

You know I've got nothing but love for you and your family. That is really great news on his sobriety.

Not just gambling. The social media validation and screen addiction is real. Everyone is so influenced by their algos that it’ll end up crushing them

Pete Rose is a perfect example of gambling addiction. He was not a good loser and was very abusive to staff. Great ball player not a nice guy.

I know states like Ohio and Connecticut ban residents from betting on college player props, which could be adopted as well

Tech is paying 50 million dollars to play football. Unless it comes out this kid was literally throwing games, like Blue Chips type ****, this will be completely erased WAY before fall camp.

It’s almost guaranteed. He’s gonna miss the season. Iowa State had people out of the program for $2800. I don’t know what you’re talking about. This is literally the one last area that where the NCAA has authority almost every single national expert in Texas Tech, fan site and reporters all think he’s not gonna play.

The fact that he went into counseling as a way of trying to make it seem like a disease which I’m not saying it’s not would’ve maybe theoretically helped if it didn’t come out that it was because the NCAA told everybody they were on to him so he wasn’t making the first move

I keep saying this to my friends and they all just blow me off. It’s everywhere now. The odds are in every single sports app, not just the betting ones, ESPN and other networks have whole shows dedicated to sports betting odds and picks. There are hundreds of content creators who push betting apps with their ‘codes’ and ****. It’s everywhere now and you can bet on every little thing sports wise. We’re going to be seeing a ton of this in the future. It’s only going to get worse

NCAA rules I’m pretty positive say college players can’t bet on college sports in general . And it just gets worse from there depending upon if it’s your sport, your team, etc.. It’s the difference between six months and a lifetime ban, depending upon whether it was sport or not let alone if you bet on your team positively even if you didn’t play. I haven’t finished the thread here, but some of these posts are completely ignoring with Texas Tech fans think themselves, and with their writers I’ve already said I’ve watched multiple podcasts from national to local and almost everyone thinks he’s screwed as his Texas tech in terms of having him available Counseling or no counseling. This is literally like the last thing the NCAA actually has clear control over all of these guys are supposed to have this app on their phones that notifies their teams/whoever about downloading a gambling app.

So many people talking out their *** on this one
