Would have been nice to land him but we already have 6 OL and signed 4 last year. Now use what ever money was set aside for him on a DT or a safety where we really need help.

Why do people keep acting like we have a salary cap?

This is the last year of unchecked Collective NIL money. Use it or lose it. Next year will be different.

This will happen.
I mean there seems to be a lot of uncertainty and "rushing" to get guys signed due to the house settlement, right, so seems like that could be a pretty heavy factor. Plus it seems like USC is sparing no expense this season. They know how important this year is. Granted all these HS recruits have zero impact on this current season, but they have a whole helluva lot riding on this. I'd be surprised if they just sucked *** again tbh.

Idk man I think they hold on to the majority of their top guys. Also the bulkk of their class seems to be SoCal kids, who I expect them to keep, especially the poly kids (who are the ones I'd want us to flip the most - Pepe, Tomuhini Topui)

DMoney seemed to imply that funds were pretty limited when he talked about not blowing our load in July.
Don't think that is what he meant.

I think he meant you don't overpay for guys in July when you have a whole season to play.

Keeping guys currently on the roster and expected to play big rolls this season happy.

ie: you don't offer Keys big $ now and **** off Jojo/Moore/Baby Jesus/etc

Ok, that’s basically what I was getting at… there isn’t enough scratch to get these croots committed while also doing whatever else needs to be done.

So we’ll see them commit elsewhere now, and try to flip them down the line when it’s more feasible.

I don't care what he implied. I have spoken with guys in the Collective. What they will spend is evaluated on a player-by-player basis. NOT on a "salary cap basis".

If we don't pay a kid what he wants, it's because the coaches and Collective don't think we should pay that much money for that particular player. Not because we are going to hit the luxury tax or salary cap.

We have absolutely positively authorized money for certain players, regardless of any other apparent "budget" or expectations.

And yet "undefeated 13-1 F$U just went 2-10.

Anything can happen with bad talent and bad chemistry and bad coaching. F$U didn't have a very difficult schedule last year either.
I don’t think their talent is bad. Stud WRs and a QB that could rise to be a 1st round pick. OL has an all-American and should be better than the last few years.

Can they stop anyone is the question. Recent history would say no, but they brought in a new DC so who knows. Rob Ryan.

Rob Ryan is not the DC at USC. He’s a glorified analyst. Assistant HC for defense or some ****.
