Months ago I expected it would be Perry and I hoped it would be Perry. More entertaining and interesting. Considerably more dispersion but that's a good thing.
I'm not afraid of losing, or nearly losing, to teams we should defeat. It takes two to be embarrassed and the Canes should never be one of them. Gators run away. We don't. However, I suspect Richt is more than somewhat gunshy given his recent ouster at Georgia and the impatience/outrage of Canes fans. Hence the more cautious strategic choice.
I literally paid no attention to Rosier in that Clemson game, despite being in the stands. I didn't view him as a Canes caliber quarterback so the details didn't matter. Two Clemson fans had relocated in the emptied stadium and sat behind me to my left. I turned and spoke to them about the status of our program, while Rosier was doing whatever he did.
Four years out of high school before being named the starter is not the blueprint or resume of an elite college quarterback. We can adjust and pretend all we want but as always I default to big picture logic, the more often than not role. At Alabama that type of quarterback can jump in and run the table, or nearby. We aren't close to Alabama level, despite all the adjusters who prefer to insist otherwise.
I suspect if Perry were a traditional pro style quarterback like Kaaya he might have been given the starting benefit of a doubt despite the growing pains. But with an athletic scattergun type the results can be all over the place. Richt steadily realized he didn't want to take that chance, that Perry was too far away.
Regardless, I applaud Perry for not enrolling early. I lose some respect for anyone who enrolls early. The high school experience should be played out and cherished to the finish, before doing the same at the next level.

Very happy he stepped up and won the job. Also happy Sherriffs pushed him. I trust the staff 100%.
Rosier beat a kid who was 69.7% passing in 2 scrimmages
We are gonna be just fine

Nothing personal but this post failed miserably on multiple levels. No need even to waste time dissecting it.Months ago I expected it would be Perry and I hoped it would be Perry. More entertaining and interesting. Considerably more dispersion but that's a good thing.

Miami announced this morning that Malik Rosier will be the starting quarterback for the opener against Bethune-Cookman.
Rosier, the redshirt junior, beat out redshirt sophomore Evan Shirreffs and staved off freshman competitor N'Kosi Perry. Rosier is 1-0 as a starter at Miami, defeating Duke back in 2015 when Brad Kaaya was put with a concussion.
Rosier came to Miami as a three-star recruit in the 2014 class from Faith Academy HS in Mobile, Alabama. He truly took control of the quarterback race over the two weeks with two good scrimmages, and most importantly improved accuracy.
Sources close to the situation say that although Rosier is the starter, Richt will not shy away from working another quarterback into the mix as well.
Obviously the safe choice at this point. Perry obviously was nowhere near where he needed to be.

Fixed it for you![]()
YOu do know they all got reps against 1st and 2nd team D, right?
If you think Rosier put up them scrimmage numbers against the #1 D then...
In the same scrimmage he went up against both Ds. He didn't score the TDs against them, but yes some of his completions and yardage were against the 1st team D. We saw as much in the scrimmage clips. You're clowning right now, dude.
I imagine you overly committed to the Perry bandwagon. Don't worry. Perry will be a stud. It just takes time
The guys who went in too hot on Perry are now engineering all kinds of slick **** to discredit Rosier without going in too hard on him. They don't want to feel the wrath of the real fans, so they're keeping the hate game as slick as dummies can.
The new trash is that Rosier never saw a first teamer across from him in practice.

Is Junior Rosier better than Freshman Kaya?
junior Rosier is better than Junior Kaaya.
