BREAKING: Rosier named starter

Still confused on how choosing Rosier is a polarizing decision.

1. Rosier never swayed from his commitment to staying with Miami, even when the odds were against him during Spring practice
2. He flat out WON the job - it's not like it was handed to him because we have no other options; Shirreff proved to be stiff competition
3. He's a competitor, a team leader and is well respected by both coaches and his teammates

Lastly - I really hope people understand that Rosier's job isn't to be an elite-level QB. He needs to be a game manager, get the ball to his weapons and not turn the ball over. That's it. With this defense he merely needs to run the RPO effectively and keep feeding the ball to his play makers.

If Rosier is nothing more than a game manager, we will have a disappointing season. He is going to have to make big plays at crucial times.

He is not just a game manager. He is a winner who can make big plays with his arm and his legs.

I feel the fact it took Richt this long is cause he favors Perry... And from his experience he sees the Higher Ceiling in Perry

That even elevated Malik more in my eyes. To win the job while you are not the favorite. I have a good feeling about the season.

The Choice is made, I'm not even going to complain because this has the potential to be a great season with or without Malik being an elite level QB right now. Let's go into the FSU undefeated, get some of the freshmen game experience, stay healthy, and let's take it to them! We can win 10 games right now and the Coastal. So let's ride Canes!!!

I think Perry definitely has the higher ceiling, but if he doesn't know what to do in every playbook situation he's a liability. Richt said i don't want a guy who gets lucky it to throw it to the right guy, because I'm going to ask him why did you throw it to him and if he doesn't know i know he's not ready.

Or it tells you Perry isn't as far along as Richt hoped.

Months ago I expected it would be Perry and I hoped it would be Perry. More entertaining and interesting. Considerably more dispersion but that's a good thing.

I'm not afraid of losing, or nearly losing, to teams we should defeat. It takes two to be embarrassed and the Canes should never be one of them. Gators run away. We don't. However, I suspect Richt is more than somewhat gunshy given his recent ouster at Georgia and the impatience/outrage of Canes fans. Hence the more cautious strategic choice.

I literally paid no attention to Rosier in that Clemson game, despite being in the stands. I didn't view him as a Canes caliber quarterback so the details didn't matter. Two Clemson fans had relocated in the emptied stadium and sat behind me to my left. I turned and spoke to them about the status of our program, while Rosier was doing whatever he did.

Four years out of high school before being named the starter is not the blueprint or resume of an elite college quarterback. We can adjust and pretend all we want but as always I default to big picture logic, the more often than not role. At Alabama that type of quarterback can jump in and run the table, or nearby. We aren't close to Alabama level, despite all the adjusters who prefer to insist otherwise.

I suspect if Perry were a traditional pro style quarterback like Kaaya he might have been given the starting benefit of a doubt despite the growing pains. But with an athletic scattergun type the results can be all over the place. Richt steadily realized he didn't want to take that chance, that Perry was too far away.

Regardless, I applaud Perry for not enrolling early. I lose some respect for anyone who enrolls early. The high school experience should be played out and cherished to the finish, before doing the same at the next level.

Very happy he stepped up and won the job. Also happy Sherriffs pushed him. I trust the staff 100%.

Not a huge fan of Rosier, think he is very limited, just not the quality QB we need to regain prominence. Oh well, maybe he'll prove me wrong, doubt it.

It's GO time! Want him to succeed in the worst way. We need you to manage the game and limit the mistakes. Go CANES!
I'm rollin' with Malik! I'm not a fan of the "just manage the game" bull****! Your the QB for the U! Be a savage and keep the ******* pedal down. I feel like when your D is great like ours it allows you to be more aggressive and if you throw a pick attacking, the D's got your back. I say cut it ****** loose!

Me to!! I think Malik is really going surprise people...

Nkosi will take the job soon as he's ready.... this is the perfect scenario to have him 2nd string to groom our future star qb.

If Nkosi ends up playing meaningful snaps this year....we're in a world of ****.

Nah if Malik were to get injured N'Kosi will be ready by the half way point of the season. Not winning a championship but still contending for the ACCCG

I'm happy for Rosier. Nobody gave him a shot and he worked his *** off and has waited his turn for a while now. I'm not expecting some great QB but I expect him to keep drives alive with his feet and to make the right decision in crucial situations. ****, I see nothing wrong with him being a "game manager" as some claim he is. The defense is supposed to be **** good and with Walton, Richards, Herndon as the top 3 weapons, I like our chances. I'm just hoping and praying the OL can win games at times. Let the run game open up the passing game and play great defense.

The more I think about it, the more hope I have for Malik. We NEED the o-line to stay healthy by some miracle. It seems like there is little to no depth behind the first 6-7 guys.
