Miami, FL. - The Best in the Nation has made a massive decision.

Earlier this afternoon, 24/7 Sports announced that Christopher Columbus High’s two way star A’mir “A1” Sears will be RE CLASSIFYING from the C/O 2028 to 2027.



Sears, a 6 foot 1 dual threat phenomenon is rated as the #1 recruit in the country by 24/7. Holding 47 Division I Offers, Sears is one of the most sought after recruits in the country, with the Miami Hurricanes hot on the trail.

Last season with West Broward, A’mir recorded 42 catches for 942 yards and 11 touchdowns offensively, alongside 61 tackles, 11 pass breakups, 3 interceptions and a sack on defense.



Sears’ dual threat versatility helped spark the Bobcats into an unlikely Cinderella run, as West Broward would go 12-3 including a trip to the FHSAA Class 6A State Final, where they’d unfortunately fall 31-0 to the back-to-back-champs West Boca Bulls. Before the loss in the State title game, West Broward would win 12 straight with their only regular season losses coming in September.



Confirmed by 24/7’s Tom Loy, A’mir will be announcing his commitment this Friday, July 31 at 5:00 PM EST. Sears’ commitment will be broadcasted via 24/7 Sports and CBS.

Front runners in A’mir Sears’ recruitment include Miami, Texas A&M, LSU, Florida and Syracuse.

Miami currently sits with the #4 recruiting class in the country, per 24/7, and Sears can pair nicely with other hometown stars including 5-Star WR Nick Lennear and 4-Star S Jaylyn Jones.

All the things you said were true but Manny left the talent level & overall culture in a terrible place when he got booted for Mario

I get it. I still think Mario way underperformed the first two years. He won 5 games with essentially the same team Manny won 7 with and that’s not only because of Mario’s ineptness at the time on game day, but in my opinion, it was his staff. Poor coaching. Poor planning and approaches. Poor evals. Poor development.

But he got it right in year three and then year 4, went to the Finals. I didn’t think we were getting into the playoffs under Mario. Like I said, he’s met the low standard I had to be competitive, competent and respected as a program again so I have no complaints whatsoever anymore. If we win it all it’s gravy to me.

Those guys were great that year. It was close enough though and look at the money Mario was given to make player and coach picks. He chose poorly mostly for the first two years.

For sure. And I’m not trying to excuse that at all.

It’s more that I hate when people (not you) try to oversell that 21 season because of a few ranked wins. We sucked that year too, and if not for Rambo being a perfect fit for the one thing TVD did well I think that’s probably about a 5 win season too.

There were some of those. There were some who were miserable no matter what and I myself questioned why they’re even here. Then there were some who would get under the collective skin of the faithful like @cway313 and @Angry Ibis because of their sarcasm so I get the attacks they got, however, both of those guys are real fans. You notice those two in recruiting threads upvoting or welcoming recruits we land all the time. Those guys are fans.

But I get the snipes they got for being sarcastic and yes, I thought their sarcasm was funny be it was based in truth. Then others just gave opinions that were right but not happy happy joy joy and they got run off to DMs.

I was plenty harsh but I just wanted to be competently coached and respected as a competitive program again. Without Cam Ward in year three we don’t win 8 games. I mean if TVD is qb. But the way it works is, Mario identified Cam as the guy and he was successful here and that changed the trajectory.

I’m serious man, I have seen all the great miami QBs in the modern error at miami. Jim Kelly was a majorly important recruit. Since that time, after where we’ve been, I think Cam Ward is the one guy I point to that changed it all on the Miami’s back trajectory. Mali too for local reasons alone and then some.

22 and 23 were disasters. The portal saved us in 24 when we landed Cam. That defense with anyone but Cam and 24 is a disaster as well. Ultimately though, we did get Cam and the rest is history.

Then Mario turned around and knocked it out the park with the DC hire and a great portal class which had both high profile players as well as stellar evals.

Now we are on the trajectory to be a force in the conference and more going forward but it was definitely rocky and not this slow controlled build many try to depict. Now that said you are ultimately judged on results and Mario has delivered the last two years and that’s all that matters.

I’m with you. I’ve said it before and I’ll die on the hill. Cam Ward deciding to come to Miami is the biggest moment for this program in over 20 years (I’m not old enough to speak on anything pre-2000). It saved everything. I think we’re at best a 6-6 team in 2024 without him, and with the GT debacle still being on everyone’s mind I don’t know how we escape that.

He 100% adapted and checked off two of the three major question marks about him. First was QB recruiting and second was making the right coordinator hires. He killed it on those two.

The one he is still working on is Gameday management but even there he improved and hired help there. Have to give credit where credit is due, he not only worked on his deficiencies but he outright solved two of them.

 

No such thing as locks in recruiting.
