Bradley Jennings

As an FYI... there is a thread that @brock bumped where there was talk of Keontra being able to play LB (I of course endorse that line of thought).
Just sayin' we have stronger options here than we do on the OL.
Keontra maybe can play LB in college. He would be on the smaller size but has experience playing LB in high school.

Jennings has flashed a bit and a lot of coaches were raving about him this spring. I hope he gets healthy and can play some this year because we will need him to start next year. I know everyone is focused on Brooks and Huff and rightfully so, but I'm really excited for Jennings and Joyner as well.

Agreed. He's a punisher.

It’s not just Jennings. It’s now Jennings combined with Steed and Wilder. 55/56 are going to play a ton of football this year, and very few backers in the country go a whole season without at least some small injury. It’d be nice to be able to put a kid in who has been here longer than 45 minutes if/when that happens.

If 55/56 are healthy for every snap of every game and play their normal high percentage of the snaps, this is no big deal. But losing 3 veteran LBers (even if they haven’t played much) and having to possibly and probably rely on true freshmen isn’t a good thing. Just hope there’s no further injuries, but good luck with that.
None of the three guys you mentioned has done anything more than Brooks or Huff. Most people forgot Wilder was even on the team.

We need a couple backups to give the top guys some occasional rest. And we have them. We have 2 great freshmen prospects, and Diaz showed us 3 years ago what he could do with freshmen LBs.

We’re thin. But you guys, in typical UM fan fashion, are blowing it way out of proportion. If we lose our top LBs it’ll be a big blow. But you could say the same thing about any other team.

Unlikely this young man will ever play any meaningful snaps for Miami.

Tough luck. Miracles happen, but subtle signs point to "not good at all".

You’re right. When you think Miami Hurricanes, you think “quality depth”.

On Earth though, when you’re thin already and lose 3 guys who play the same position 6 weeks before camp even starts, it’s worth discussing.

It might be worth discussing; it’s not worth panic and despair. And we didn’t lose Wilder 6 weeks before the season. We lost him seemingly 7 years ago. I barely remember him. Steed, bless his heart, has been struggling with serious injuries since his HS days.

No one is certain Jennings is “lost.” Let it play out. You’re on record calling Jennings’ injury devastating albeit mislabeling it as a knee injury.

We’re thin. We know it. So what can we do about it now other than hope the stars we have stay healthy and the young studs coming in can give us some of what Shaq and his crew gave us as freshmen.

Sam Brooks looks the part more right now than any of the backup LB's. Huff is faster and more athletic than any of them. I think it's great to get those guys some burn right away. They are the favorites to start next season IMO. It's a shame so many are getting injured but talent wise they are on the true frosh's level.

You think Brooks or Huff will be able to hold the starting job over Jennings? He knows this scheme inside and out. Jennings might only be a 3 Star Recruit but he was a monster in highschool
Yes, Brooks when healthy is an absolute monster. Huff is a specimen. Jennings will play but he's not starting. He's a liability on defense bro....

Open competition at the other LB spot opposite McCloud. Brooks, Huff, Jennings, and even Cave/Flagg. It’ll be nice to have some depth though. Assuming it’s either Brooks/Huff, what a serious infusion of speed compared to Shaq/Pinckney.

why should McCloud not have to compete for a starting spot?
