Except he won 14 his next two seasons
Finished 9-3 in 2001 and left for Notre dame.
But we all know notre dame like Texas and Bama has a habit of hiring coaches who have sucked at smaller programs.

So besides this, why is Condi not a great choice for President at UM?

1. The Presidential Search Committee have some of, but not all of, the people that decide on the coaching hires. The P. S. C. is only concerned with academics.

2. The big donors are the one that really call the shots. Paul Dimare has much more power than Blake James.

Stuart Miller is in here. Currently speaking.

Tell him to hire Dr. John D. Simon, Provost of the University of Virginia.

Are big donors pleased with where this program is at? I haven't heard much in regards to that.

The big donors have had their confidence in the team's ability to win and compete restored. After going head to head with FSU, losses going forward are unacceptable.

To one of the original points of this thread.

It would be incredibly stupid to consider someone for president of a major athletic university if they are not in any way interested in athletics. The president of ANY university should be concerned about ALL departments under his/her watch, not just academics. It's what a ******* PRESIDENT does. A provost? Academics. Chancellor? Public face, more or less. Dean? Student/faculty affairs. President? ALL OF THE ******* ABOVE. Including athletics. Especially at a school like Miami. Whoever thinks otherwise is an ignorant **** who should refrain from commenting but probably won't considering they're an ignorant ****. Bottom line, Miami spends/receives an incredible amount of money on/from their athletic department, specifically their football program. Their public image is intrinsic to the football program, and vice versa. It would be ******* insane if an incoming president cared nothing about the program. It IS the university.

Just because the OP would like for them to factor in the athletic program (Football specifically) does not in any way mean he wants us to hire a president that doesn't care about academics. Why shouldn't how a future president would handle the athletic program a topic of discussion? it should be. It doesn't have to be a main criteria in hiring a president. But that doesn't mean they should just ignore it, because it isn't as important as academics, which obviously it isn't.
And Shalala has been very supportive of the athletic programs. She goes to many athletic events. But she doesn't hold us to the high standard in sports like she does academics. She has approved bad hires in football.
It's not cray to want a president that holds us to the academic standards that Shalala has, but also hold our Sports (Mainly Football) to the same standard. That's what I want. That's why Condoleza Rice is the perfect president candidate, although I doubt we'd have a shot at her coming here.

lol@ the North Carolina redneck calling someone hillbilly

LOL at you defending his dumb hillbilly ***.

What's wrong with hillbillys? Are you racist?

Leave him alone. There's nothing more sad than someone being a pompous blowhard for no good reason.

If he wants to call me a "hillybilly" that's fine. Never mind that I'm a native Floridian, graduated HS and college in Florida, lived in Florida 95% of my life, but yeah, I'm a "hillybilly" Lulzzzz His ignorance never ceases to amaze me.

Condi Rice would be an incredible hire for UM. Incredible. That said, what I want to see more than anything is to see UM embrace the unique persona and style of play that made UM famous. However, even with somebody who supports football, I don't think any politician who is overly involved in football is going to let that happen again. My hope is that we hire a great new president who hires an AD that understands the unique nature of the football program, and lets the AD have control. I realize that is dreaming.

The football program is both a MAJOR expenditure and a MAJOR source of revenue. The fact that the revenue balances out the spending does not negate the fact that it is a VERY important line item on Miami's annual budget and therefore is a MAJOR consideration for any new president to oversee. Yes, it is incredibly important, from a business standpoint, that the incoming president has some concern for the success/failure of the program.

Plus the baseball program

So sad what has happened since 2008. I'll never get over that CWS, that was hands down the best CBB team I have ever seen.

I see them around all the time and have quite a few who are friends of mine. A number of them would go as far as to bury someone out in one of these hollers if I were to ask.

So...I think we are trying to say same thing. In reality the athletic program should probably only be under 10-15% of a reason to hire a president. I mean Rice is one of the few that I think would go above and beyond for the athletic department.

Bottom line. In today's world. The best marketing tool a university has is its athletic programs.

1. Football
2. Football
3. Football
4. Football
5. All the other lame schit.
