BOT rumblings

He'd be nice but we will never be able to out bid for his services.

The SeC and B1G will back up Fort Knox to get him when he leaves Houston.

Just hope Richt finds a yes man that tells him "yes, running nothing but 4 verts and inside zone is not going to work"

Is a coordinator with full authority a common thing? Are there any instances of it working at a high level?

The only time I’ve heard of an OC being forced by the BOT was Richt in Georgia, and that was extremely contentious. I just don’t see how that could work.

What a clusterfcuk this is.

Whether or not you're telling the truth (doubt that you are), I think it's pretty safe to say that if Richt is taking the Miami job seriously, he will have to:
  1. Add a full time OC/QB coach (Brown either dropped or goes RB coach, Jon goes away)
  2. Add a full time ST coach (Hartley to stay as TE coach & recruiting specialist)
  3. Replace Searels OL coach
  4. Make Diaz assistant head coach and HC in-waiting
1-3 are absolutely "must haves" at this point to make a difference next year. #4 would keep Diaz in place as DC for at least another 1-2 years before either Richt retires or a decent school comes after Diaz with HC dollars.

The problem is that even if by some miracle all that happens....I can’t see Richt not interfering with the new OC.
Will his ego let him stay hands off and hire a OC with a different philosophy?
Or will he interfere and handcuff the new guy.

Richt had issues with Jeremy Pruitt at Georgia. I don’t know the details but pretty sure that was a forced hire.

I like richt as the CEO like Dabo is for Clemson. He is a good face for the team bc of the type of person he is but he just needs to let the coordinators do what they are hired to do.

In the scenario we all want with a new OC and new special teams coach who would the two coaches be who lose jobs? Obviously Sereals but who would the second be? Before everyone says Thomas Brown like is mentioned a couple times he is one of the best coaches on our team and the only reason he is at Miami is because we offered him the OC title. Jon richt has to be the second imo and new OC is in charge of QB too.

I think these are pretty good suggestion. One thing I would not do is automatically give Diaz that title/pay raise unless you have to. Don't just offer unless it is to keep him. I think Diaz would give us a chance to match or increase his salary/title before leaving unless it was to be a HC.
Make his son offensive analysist instead of QB coach if he wants to keep him around. Hopefully Jon does his dad a favor and finds a lower tier program to be an OC.

Why should he be allowed to keep his son... unless he is paid nothing?

What are we... some third world dictatorship?

Actully you have to replace with a new oline coached so we would have to learn one more coach go too

Just close the program. This BOT has struck out on four consecutive hires and as a result, we look like a weak, dying midmajor. They’re never going to fix it, so #### it. I’m not watching anymore of this garbage and I’m certainly not buying a ticket, crossing Alligator Alley and paying an obscene parking fee to watch this dumpster fire get raped by UVA.

It’s “I spoke to a BOT member” season. Poke my eyes out with a white hot bronze rod. Holy ****, our fans are *****.

I spoke with one BOT member this morning. Forced changes will be coming after the season. Richt is not going anywhere but significant changes in staff will be forced on him. He didn’t say it but I think he was talking about an offensive coordinator.

Disagree completely.

I heard the exact opposite. "We paid a top-10 coach to run this business and we invested as much as we can. We trust him. Our priority is the law school, not some children's game that has received two buildings in the past 5 years." I was told that they will not concern themselves with this for at least 2 years. We have new facilities, an IPF and the Adidas contract. "What more do they want?"

Miami the city is now #7 in VC money. I was told that tech is their #2 priority after the law school. They are also trying to markedly improve their engineering offering and using 'aeronautical' as the launch pad. I am in the analytics industry and spoke to some donors about degrees in the field. None had watched a game this year...

I would be willing to bet hard money that zero changes are made. They seem to care very little about it, frankly.
