Bleak's Player Grades (FSU game)

Don't disagree with the grades at all. Like some others said maybe a few too many high grades but pretty fair assessment. Willis still created enough havoc but maybe we got spoiled with seeing him have his way with lesser opponents.

Never thought I would say this... but the only thing that keeps us from getting a fair chance at the playoffs is our skagg *** ST...

Lulz @ Deejay lost a few pounds so he looked more explosive

This board is more bizarrely obsessed with weight than an anorexia forum

That was my biggest take away from OP post as well. LMAO, Dallas dropped a few pounds in ten days to get faster for FSU???

Dallas ain't drop any lb's, but he raining L'ssss all OVER Trailerhassee...

I agree on the Richt assessment. I couldn’t believe he sat on the ball when we had all the momentum and field position. Such weak calls on that 3 and out.

I don't disagree, but what happens when Perry throws an INT there, or worse a pick 6? All of a sudden we're all calling for Richt's head because he got greedy and didn't protect the lead. In a game where the other team's offense didn't come back out after the half, maybe him being conservative is forgivable.

Now of course this isn't the only time we've played that way, but the result does matter. We won, so it was the right call on that day.

Disagree. His body composition is not ideal. He looks pudgy and he's admitted publicly that his weight has fluctuated a lot since he arrived on campus. If you think losing weight doesn't help RBs take a look at the careers of both Steelers backs.

I agree with @blackvern that he looked more explosive/faster against FSU.

OK, but he still didn't lose weight last week. At least not enough to make a difference in his speed.

A couple points of disagreement:

Perry: Not sure why you think Perry's nerves are a concern going forward. Was he flustered at the start of the game? Maybe. He was also making his first start in one of the biggest rivalries in football. Having some jitters was to be expected. He also had the fsu DL in his face all game and zero run game. 5 sacks, most of which were not his fault. Yet he didn't get happy feet and throw a single INT (I don't remember him even throwing any passes that had a chance of getting picked unless the ball bounced off of Cagers chest). In the second half he was dealing. 4 TDs (should have been 5 TDs). Crazy to give him less than a B+.

Willis- if he finishes the season with the same dominance as he has shown the first 6 games, he is absolutely a first round pick, and works himself into the top 15. Elite DTs aren't falling off trees.

Cager- D? Bruh, come on. Does he remind you of your high school bully or something? That is a ridiculous grade. He had some drops, he made the ones that counted. Dropped one TD, caught 2. B-/C+

Richt- grade seems fair, but this was never going to be a 2 TD win. Unless you just started watching the Canes, you'd know that these games almost always come down to the wire, regardless of the records. In any case Richt is getting no higher than a C+ from me for the remainder of the season until he bring in a new special teams coach. It's not just 3 years of bad special teams in Miami, his special teams at UGA were also garbage his last few years (I think he also had a double duty coach there too). So it's not that we are unlucky on special teams, when it happens at two different schools you can tell that it is a matter of coaching philosophy. Richt just doesn't think special teams are a priority (hence not having a dedicated special teams coach at either stop). That's just foolish (and an easy fix, sp teams coaches don't command top dollar) and is the kind of thing that will 100% keep you out of the playoffs.

And one thing being lost on Cager is that after he dropped that TD in the end zone..he basically told Richt to shove that playbook up his a$$, told Baxa don't even think about getting on the field for a FG try and to give him the **** ball again. He didn't even try to hide it..he was screaming for them to run it back... Everyone knew it was coming back to him so the pressure was on and he made the TD catch. That's balls! He drops that and it would be a play talked about forever in that series since it would have probably cost us the game and we would have lost all momentum. HUGE sequence by him.

When I first opened this, I thought you were going to be grading FSU's players!

To avoid a pick 6. You throw intermediate passes to the middle of the field. Don’t attempt long out routes that if they get picked they go for 6. There are pass options available that limit the risk that we could have attempted in my opinion.

You’re making more of this than it is

Deejay breaks a nice run.

“He’s lost weight! He’s explosive!”

Deejay gets tackled from behind

“He’s too fat! Blame Sawsey!”

Same goes for Homer.

It’s ******* comical and embarrassing, even if in theory it’s true.

Perry is not the first Cane QB to suffer a little shake and bake from noles. They hit QBs early, late and often. Bobby was alwys fine with roughing the passer flags if the hit was good. Kid knew he was starting and had all week to get nervous. In the end he did what you want from your QB scored enough points to win a close game(Rosier did to) and held ball till the final gun for second week in a row.
