Blast from the Past....

Yup. For fun, go back and watch the first NC game vs Nebraska. We shut the option down because we shut the FB dive down. We did that because Fitz ragdolled Nebraska's center and threw him aside at the snap like 60-70% of the snaps. And he was banged up that game too. An absolute badass.
Even before JJ's 4-3 Miami was good against the option. Howard player the old OU 5-2 with small DEs acting like LBs alot. NE was scoring like 70 a game that year. Never knew what hit them that night. Greatest game ever in my mind.

You failed to mention that great coach, Harold Allen, a UM player from Key West and longtime DL coach. He coached a lot of great defensive linemen at the U.
I suspect the biggest of that bunch was Chick at about 250. I read that he survived a bad pelvis or hip injury in a car accident then came back to play.
I have a program from the 1966 Orange Bowl where Bama stomped Nebraska. Huskers couldn't stop Steve Sloan to Ray Perkins offense. Alabama's LBs were sub-200 pounds. Maybe even a few of their OL too.

“yeah good times. I remember back in the day when I was still the man, I’m still the man tho, hanging with legends. I had to tell Tony how to get set and he said me years later ‘I owe all my success to you’ and I said it ain’t a thing but a chicken wing bro. Even tho I lost my legs in Nam’ I could still bang with the best of em. Back then they didn’t know men could chase cleats LOL. Don’t think we win that first natty if I didn’t tell Howard that when ever I’m with a stud recruit I leave my leopard thong behind so I have a reason to go back. So you could sayI taught him about leaving his pipe because I was always going back for pipe. Golden age brothers”

Joke about how he banged your mom in 3...2..1

One of the best non-championship game moments in UM history.
Because of the success of 83, the 80 and 81 teams are often forgotten, and wrongfully so. They were both very good, and the 81 team dropped two extremely close games to ranked opponents, on the road, and with terrible officiating in both. They were good enough to win it all in 81.

Nice pic. That’s Freddy Marion cutting in front of Cris Collinsworth for the int.

That looks like the 1980 game at UF where
Schnellenberger ran up the score on the inbreds because their fans were pelting our sideline with oranges.
Ahhhhh the good 'ol days, no participation trophies, no safe places, no emotional support animals no snowflakes and we kept score because there were winners and losers.....sigh....

Arguably the finest position coach in Canes storied history.

Actually kicked a FG on the final play of the game which was considered running up the score

That 5-2 was called "Monster" according to Fitz...That 5-2 was the base D...with some Olividotti 3-4 garbage sprinkled in....In the 5-2 the LBers were Sisk and Brophy...when we were in a 3-4 Fernandez joined LBers Sisk and Brophy...

They would've whipped Clemson in NC game...

Don't diminish Butch and Odgeron as DL coaches...especially Butch....Butchs D lines were every bit as Savage as Allen's....Odgerons DLs were plain outta control...Total Savages....
Not diminishing anyone, but if you know Canes history Harold Allen did far and away more with DL than anyone else. Guy developed a string of All-Americans and 1st rounders at a time when the program was barely keeping head above water. Butch Davis or Coach O, please don't spew that kind of nonsense.

Lol at if I know UM FB History....Im very well versed...to say that Butch and Odgeron can't hold a candle to Coach Allen is Ludicrous....and thats not taking anything away from Coach Allen....

Well, apparently not versed enough.
Lol....more versed than you'll ever be....
Butch's and Odgerons DLs were statistically the Best ever....its not their fault that Coach Allen had less to work with....
