Blame talent not coaching

Let me state before the majority of this board gets their panties in a bunch, I have no idea how Miami will be under Diaz. But I love how fans are torching him but fail to realize the talent is severely lacking this year.

As of now scouts have 1 player currently who could go as high as the 4th round DeeJay. The two linebackers are late day 3 picks. As far as the Juniors on this team. Garvin and Bandy are boarderline day 3 to undrafted right now. Jeff Thomas undrafted.

Why can’t Miami fans be patient. Are they really stuck in the early 2000’s. Did Richt give you false hope cause of a unicorn year filled with mass turnovers forced and lucky bounces. The majority of the talent we have are pups. They need time to get in a real strength and conditioning program. 6 months for the new guy wasn’t going to make a huge difference although some of the transformation are noticeable, give him another year.

Be a part of the solution and not the problem. Quit bi***ing and support the team and don’t hang on every single word someone makes. It’s petty. This was a rebuilding year no matter what way you slice it from the day we started Zion at left tackle. I’m excited for the future and next years team.

There is no excuse next year, plain and simple. Go Canes.

Shut up, Blake. Don't you have a skinny jeans shopping appointment this afternoon?

Another thing is our mixture of recruiters or guys that have connections to S Fla is way off. We have a bunch of guys that can’t recruit or are not respected (other than Field). This needs to be corrected.

Only other guys are Rumph, who can’t recruit and Hickson (nobody is saying man that Hickson is a good recruiter)

Richt recruited all of them. And his strength and conditioning coach is suppose to “develop” them. Something that takes a couple years. Too bad that coach was late to his own workouts.
LOL if you think Richt recruited the entire team, we have nothing else to discuss my friend. You just as clueless as our current CORCH!

My biggest issue with the whole talent vs coaching...is that it’s both. We have talented guys that (to an outsider) seem to be lazy and not hard working (Ivey as an example against GT) and we have coaches that don’t always put them in a position to succeed (3 down linemen on 3rd or 4th and long with delayed blitzes; TE sweeps to the short side from a goal to go situation).

To further complicate the problem is that (to me) it seems we have little depth as well (see our OL) and/or we have coaches who won’t play certain guys (see Lingard, I think he’s injured) for whatever reason.

I also think we have a culture of “I’m going to use the U to get to the league ASAP”. What the 4 D linemen from Clemson did last year would likely not happen in Miami (see norton and McIntosh). Obviously, there are exceptions but, I’ve noticed that many of our juniors that should come back to try to get a better draft stock (even when the NFL tells them to come back) end up declaring anyway and go undrafted or late round pick and 2-3 years later out of the league completely.

This man didn't even take Carter out of the game against VA for targeting- He was basically walking in the huddle - if that is not Amateur hour at it's finest then I don't know what is OP . In my years of playing, coaching, watching football i never experience that ever . Coach...better yet Corch Manny is winging it and going through the motions...right now come on OP! -WAKE UP BROTHER!

Good post. The offensive line is probably the best example of what you are talking about.

This team’s most experienced offensive lineman is 3rd stringer Tommy Kennedy. Next is morbidly obese Donaldson (Junior). The only other Junior or Senior offensive lineman I can find with a scholarship is Herbert who is second string.

Fans on this site love to talk about freshman offensive linemen succeeding elsewhere without looking at who they are playing beside and who backs them up. This team has zero
experienced depth or experienced leadership at possibly the most important personnel group.

Miami need to redshirt more players, keep players on the team, and develop players.

From what I can find there are less than 15 seniors (12?) with scholarships on this team. There are less than 15 Juniors (13?) with scholarships on this team. There are 10-15 spots on this roster (not counting 10+ unused scholarships) where experienced players should be and they don’t exist.

No, you full of it. How is the new coach at Louisville having a winning season with a terrible recruiting class and most of their best players bolted for the portal last year? COACHING!!!! They literal have 90% 3-star and below yet are competing. It's simple. They have a coach where the players have bought in and the coach is getting the most out of his players. Why can't we?

If you want to say the cupboard is bare (which it s not), then you can blame Diaz because 50% (defense) of the players are his recruits. You quoted NFL scout ratings. We have only 4 NFL eligible offensive players and 8 on defense. Who's the blame for lack of player development? I'm sorry, but he doesn't get the "I'm a 1st year head coach" pass because this is his 4th year at Miami. Also, most importantly is that Diaz blew so much smoke up our *** about the #TNM creating a bunch of hype that he hasn't delivered. He would have been better off saying we're rebuilding the program the day he got hired, not 6 weeks into the season after things haven't worked out the way he planned.

The problem is that Diaz is a 1st year coach earning his chops on the job. Lots of mistakes and players under performing. Let's see if he's learned anything and turns this ship around.

At what positions other than OL do you feel like our talent is lacking?? Honest question
Aside from QB the most important position in football is a LT so that’s a huge one. CB’s have potential but all are young and have sucked and cost us games, cause Richt whiffed his first year. Safety. They are young but we have a group of 5 LB trying to play safety in Carter, he’s atrocious. WR’s are terrible except Osborn but he’s limited and not a game changer.

Reason and logic - 👍 to see around here!

You either you misread what I said or aren’t smart enough to get it. This has nothing to do with Manny.

In the last 7-8 years name one player who’s had a mediocre or bad career here then blew up in the league?

The problem hasn’t been player development it’s been schematic on Saturdays. They’re two different things doofus.

Calm down.
Did coaching throw those interceptions against VT? Did coaching miss 6 field goals under 35 yards that’s an 87% success rate. Did coaching muff a punt against UF? Answer the question.

Coachiing wouldn't have play jarren if he was hurt. Coaching wouldn't have kicked fgs if we keep missing. A good coach would have gone for it instead of kicking

The only point you have is the muffed punt.
