Blake Baker.

The reality is, if Manny fires the entire defensive staph( he needs to), he's essentially saying he got every single one of his initial hires wrong. And depending on who the new DC is, that his scheme is wrong. Let that sink in while we hope that Manny could bring the Canes back to glory. BTW, thanks Blake James. That debbie downer **** being said, he better move on from his defensive staph and his scheme.

The mistake was not encouraging all of his dudes to take promotions the last 5 years, and the correction is basically forcing Banda/Baker/Pattke to all do it at once. Pattke would have been better served leaving than getting promoted to STC internally, and so would we. Banda should have moved on two years ago when Baker came in. Would Baker's development as a young DC have stalled if we had a DB coach like T-Rob or DL/LB coach outside the Chuck Amato coaching tree?

A healthy staff needs new ideas, which means it needs a reasonable amount of attrition and the hires should be more from without than within. The only good replacement hire we made was Jess Simpson.

Manny should just call plays and Get TROB the DC title, right? have DVD work with corners as well as TROB. what's 1 downside to that and what's even realistically better than that?

Why should Manny do two jobs at once? How is that a good thing? What is unrealistic about him hiring a new play caller?

He shouldn't have to do it,but he can. I'm just saying who's better?

If there's a name out there that's better than Diaz calling plays let me know. Don brown is no longer available, Aranda is a HC, vennables is not leaving.

Head coaches call offensive plays all the time. If Manny can't find someone better than himself available then why not call plays ?

This is a good observation that's separate from other deficiencies in our staff.

This program has been too incestuous with head corches for ages, and Manny has been very inward on staff. I understanding liking your guys but he basically brought moe larry curly, and his outsiders were a first time coach (rumph) and a guy who he hired for an analyst role (stroud). Bringing Simpson back would be predictable for Manny.

The challenge is Manny many not be an attractive mentor for top assistant coaches. T Rob coming maybe can signal a change in that. We'll see. It's hard to bring in new blood if you can't attract the best guys.
