Blake Baker receives contract extension at Missouri

We’ve had a lot of coaches come & go who’ve had success elsewhere.. almost like, we’re the problem.

:6fps6:

I've said this since the beginning of the season when things weren't going so well and got heat because of it. Good luck with this take, brother. It seems its serving you well so far.

Missouri is 24th in the nation in defensive yards per play. 18th in defensive yards per game. Good for Blake Baker.

For every Baker, there’s a Mark D’nonfrio, Dan Enos, and a Josh Gattis. No head coach at UM over the last 20+ years has gone on to do anything bigger than what they did at UM. Coker? A brief stint at UTSA before termination. Randy? A decent DC who’s bounced around the entire state of Florida. Golden? He finally got a real job as of 2022 as Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator. Diaz? A decent first year as Penn States DC but still TBD. Even Butch Davis, who this fanbase grossly over praises, didn’t do **** after he left Miami.

Coker built UTSA as an elderly man.

Enos did okay at MD.

Agree on Randy. In a year or two he'll be the first guy to be the HC for the big 3 when he has to step in as interim FSU HC.

Golden did okay as an NFL position coach and back as a ND DC.

Diaz was fantastic as DC. Just not HC/DC. He'll get a shot at being a head coach again. This time he'll be ready for it instead of how he was at the U.

Butch built up a powerful UNC program that consistently beat us. Then he beat us as FIU coach. I think he's okay.

The only real trash we've had is NoD and Gattis. Randy and Manny just shouldn't have been HCs.

You are too forgiving of our former coaches IMHO. The retread network is real in this industry. HCs want loyalty and reliability so they keep hiring known actors. Not a lot of true high performers which allows guys like Golden and Manny and ever Radio to bounce around a lot.

As long as he had someone else recruiting for him and had exactly the guys he needed then, yes he was good. But even with that he was still good for 1-2 games of giving up 250+ yards of rushing.

I think Temple would've been a great spot for him to cut his teeth.

Too forgiving?….maybe it’s the new adopted approach of being forgiving of HCs…

Not sure where you are going with that. I personally gave every one of our coaches time to rebuild the team to their blueprint before judging them. I don't think you can be "too forgiving" or "too unforgiving" of a new HC only 1 to 2 years into their tenure because it's still not their team. Jury's still out.

Radio lost me with his terrible recruiting, Davis & Cook, and UVA in the Orange Bowl. *** lost me with "The Al Golden Summer Camps", disappearing for multiple days to try to land the PSU contract and sticking with Dorito. Richt never lost me, he quit rather than fire his son and friends from UGA. Keeping them on would have been a third rail for me. Manny didn't lose me with Enos, he corrected that and brought in Lashlee. He lost me with the #TNM, the slip & slide and just like Shannon, horrific recruiting.

These guys all had some talent, I won't deny that. But overall, they weren't good HCs, much less great.

Mario didn't lose me with Gattis, he corrected that just like Manny corrected Enos. And he's corrected pretty much every thing else. I don't see that as being too forgiving but awareness of where we're at in the Mario rebuild. Hit me up in halfway through the 2024 season, which is when we will have enough data to fully measure him. I predict we'll be very happy with the program's progress by then.

Both of these guys earned the right to be a HC. Just not starting out at Miami. Plus, I'm under the impression that Randy could've done a better job if it wasn't for the admin during his tenure.

In Richt’s defense, it seems like he’s really going through some serious health problems and I imagine this impacted his decision to abruptly retire at the end of the 2018 season.
