Bill Belichick is a worse coach than Dave Wannstedt

I couldn’t care less who was a better or worse coach and don’t give a minute’s thought to either bellicheat or wanstache …

HOWEVER, watching the various meltdowns on this thread and how triggered people are on here, has me laughing my *** off. In that respect, this thread is absolutely priceless. And if it spurs anyone to commit harakiri, which seems entirely plausible, I will consider it the best set of posts since Stonehenge.

Not a Belichick fan, but he also constructed the team around Brady. Could argue Brady would have been average at best if drafted by Browns, Lions, Bears, etc. Also saying he botched Kosar is a reach.
Actually Scott Pioli constructed the team for Belichick, just like all other great coaches, a great front office is the key. Biggest mistake teams do is when they give coaches GM control as well

This forum is overrun by weirdos who are more unhinged & emotional than Lindsay Clancy supporters. Smh

Instead of wasting time on this forum chasing clout, I suggest these individuals consult a mental health professional immediately, before it becomes too late.

Dude, Trestman was only the Browns OC in 88 and 89.

Kosar took the Browns to the ACC championship in 86 and 87, with no Trestman. Kosar was hurt for the 1988 playoff game.
Kosar played in his third ACC Chanpionship Game in 1989, but his numbers paled to 86 and 87.

Kosar held the NFL postseason passings yards record in 1986 season (1987 game) until it was broken by Tom Brady in 2018.
TIL. That driveby shot was more just a snarky reply to state to refute blame on BB for kosar’s post-peak career

inaccurate, overly misleading stat.

BB went 36-44; 1-1 in the postseason with the Browns.

0–1 in 2001 without Brady. I’ll cancel out the game Brady entered and lost in 2001, and the game he started, left, & won in 2008.

BB goes 10-5 in 2008 without Brady. In 2016, the patriots went 3-1 without Brady. Jimmy G played so well under BB that people were ****ed when he didn’t get more draft capital when trading him to the 49ers. Moreover, Kyle Shanahan, who initially wanted to draft MAC JONES the following year, then decided to stick with Jimmy G rather than have Tom Brady end his career in San Francisco. Wes Welker was the 49ers WR coach.

Moving on, he went 29-38, 0-1 in the postseason without Brady at the end.

So 1-2 in the postseason without him, and 79-88 overall in the regular season.

Notably, Michigan Wolverine tom Brady went 1-1 against Bill’s former Browns DC Nick Saban; then Michigan State HC
Took mac jones to the playoffs his rookie year and Mac hasn’t been a starter since lol. Won games with Bailey Zappe

Brady says belichick helped him learn how to read defenses, now people say he’s garbage and brady deserves all the credit lmao.

Gave Saban the secret formula but he’s mid lol.

I’m coming to accept people don’t watch the games anyways. BB has a literal Austin peavy decommit, UNC walk-on at 6’ 265 DT leading the country in TFL despite playing two P4 teams compared to other programs

But the guy can’t coach lol

That’s great and rational and all, but have you considered I hate him and he has massive ****?

This is true.
One has to factor the GM and its office supporting the HC.
Don Shula was one of the greatest coaches but he had a great GM in Bobby Beathard during the mid to late 1970s, who helped find many players that made up the "Killer Bees", Dwight Stephenson, Tony Nathan and others.
Beathard leaves for the Redskins early 1980s, and rebuilt that franchise under another great coach in Joe Gibbs. Later did similar for Bobby Ross at San Diego.
I don't doubt Bellichick is a great coach, but he had better support than Wannstedt during his NFL days.
I actually thought had pretty decent teams at Pitt. He found and developed some good players, including some under recruited players from soFla.

You lose all credibility with mouth breather takes like this. First take asss take

It’s why I only come here for insider information, not actual analysis.

Watch Super Bowl 53 and see the body bag that mcvay was put into when no team had any answer for his offense all season.

I would just say that Belichick did win at least one super bowl without a great QB. Maybe 2. People confuse 2007 Brady as if he was that Brady in 2001.

My memory is that the first three rings they both won were brought to them by really great Ds. Richard, Lawyer, Ted, Willie etc.

If you want to hate on Belichick, I would look more at what Ted Johnson has to say and less saying he couldn’t coach in his prime.

But we all get to storm mental castles. Belichick upsets a lot of people.

And actually Beathard was an assistant GM for the Fins under Joe Thomas, Fins also had George Young who goes on to build the Giants team that Parcells coached.

Everyone, in general, is always “give me a great HC”. Its moronic, give me a great Front Office, they will know the right guys to get for that HC. Obviously there are good to great HC as opposed to mierda HC, but first and foremost a great front office is first and foremost.

As for the Wannstache, outside of the Fiesta Bowl, I would slap Jimmy upside the head for when he left the Fins, he convinced Huizinga not only to hire Wannstache but to give him complete control as well aaaaaargh

BB has more cheating scandals than playoff wins without Tom Brady. No NFL team would touch him.
Not a BB or Pats fan but these “scandals” are media fodder because the media knew how tiresome their dynasty had become and fans generally like parity in sports. I know we’re all very happy Canes fans at the fact that Alabama and Clemson aren’t beating every team by 30 PPG with rosters loaded with depth at every position. NIL and the transfer portal leveled the field and weakened these super teams. It’s much more fun to watch, ain’t it?

These “scandals” are so outrageously stupid.

“Spygate”
Lol. You mean one team is trying to figure out what the other team is going to do based on their sideline signals? Lololol. Okay, I guess everyone is a cheater.

“Deflategate”
This, is by far, hilariously moronic I just laugh every time someone brings it up. Ask any QB or EQ manager and they’ll tell you QB’s have a preference when it comes to which game balls they want to use. They’ll come into an EQ room the night before a game to choose which balls they want to use for game balls. You know, because they’ll be handling the balls for the majority of the game. They’ll choose 3/5 balls or so that make the cut. Texture (grip), as well as air pressure play a factor in which balls they choose. QB’s might ask someone to remove air from over inflated balls if they’re too hard. Having an under inflated ball gives you no advantage. You won’t be able to throw with the same velocity or make deep throws with an under inflated ball. Consider balls lose air naturally in cold weather too.

Just about every QB defended Brady during this made up scandal. The fact people consider this “cheating” is desperate and pathetic. Yeah I hated the evil Patriot empire too but making these ridiculous claims is such a reach, it ain’t funny.

Thank you for Ior bringing up the late Joe Thomas. He was vital in building winning rosters for several teams and coaches, including the Vikings for Bud Grant and especially the Fins for Don Shula, where Beathard worked under him.
