Big update from Herald

Frenk and his U health muscle are gambling with the future of this school.
They are either clueless or have it all done and it’s just under wraps.

This BOT needs a serious adjustment. These appear to be your typical 1000 dollar a plate fundraiser dinner crowd.
They dont give a sht about what the fundraiser was for. They only care about rubbing elbows with other wealthy people in order to network and keep climbing that social status ladder.
If they really cared about sports this school would be the best run and most successful athletic department.

Instead, they want to keep their social status and continue whatever fcked up relationship they have with local business leaders and politicians. The fact that the firing of Manny wasn’t even a topic of conversation until the pressure cooker came on speaks volumes about their level of involvement in athletics and their level of interest in general.

Don’t be surprised if other jobs open up and Lane gets picked up. Leaving Mario as the only option (that we know of)

If Miami was gangsta like USC they would have Rad announced as AD and then pull Aranda out their hat and surprise the Fck out of all cfb.

But nah, the bot and their millionaires will be happy going to their dinners and keeping non experienced people in the athletic department.

I've yet to read/hear a single bad thing she's done. For the hate she gets you'd think she was personally responsible for all of our shortcomings.
It’s hate by association. If you play in garbage you’ll smell like trash. It’s that simple. If she was part of the staff under Blake James then she is hated just like anyone else associated with this athletic department. Is it right? Probably not, but it’s reality.

Who is great at photoshop? Make one of those Pablo Escobar memes waiting around for Miami to make a decision!!

alabaga beats us in football by 31
alabaga just beat us in basketball by 32

sure hope we don't play them in baseball
Bruh…. It’s really disturbing that they beat us WORSE in basketball…. and they really kicked our **** in, in football.

I don't disagree with that standard, but she's not the first assistant AD we've ever had over the past 20 years of sucking. Yet she's the first assistant AD to get **** on consistently, usually by just posting a picture of her face while not stating anything bad she's done.

It seems to me most people are just jammed up about some "fORcEd dIVersItY" with their favorite sportsball team.

UM is finally trying to be serious about football but is tripping over their own 2 feet. They fired Blake which was the right move, but they waited too long. There was zero reason to not have fired him earlier in the year, have conducted a proper search process, brought someone in, and given that person 90 days to complete an autopsy of the program, where its failures have been, what its culture currently is, what it needs to be, and what the right HC candidate should look like. It's clear that the AD needs to be someone who is a builder and has successfully built/ rebuilt before. We don't need a closer because our organizational infrastructure isn't there.

The AD should then have made a list of who might be the right guy for the program, someone aligned with that vision, and then targeted that person. We need a foundation builder at UM at the HC position as well. Someone who can set the culture, the toughness, the accountability, and do the fundamentals well- both organizationally and from a team standpoint.

I love Zo, but he isn't the right guy for AD. Can he be groomed for that role? Sure, but he isn't the right guy for right now. He doesn't have admin excellence around him. We will be setting him up to fail statistically. From a HC standpoint, I love Lane, but he isn't the right guy for right now. We need Mario, Stoops, or someone of that ilk to be the guy now. Lane is a closer, doesn't have the infrastructure at UM to cover his deficiencies, and will likely ultimately flame out here. You don't have to read between the lines. Simply read the lines, read what others have said about him. There are some real issues with him.

Get a proper AD. Hire Mario or someone similar.
“Lane is a closer “….”Lane isn’t the guy for right now”. What, exactly, does this mean? No disrespect. But Lane is EXACTLY what we need right now. We need a proven winner who will have us in the cfp in 3 years, Stack talent because we are WINNING and THEN hand the keys to someone like Mario. Mario isn’t exactly an X’s and O’s type of coach? He needs to “out talent “ teams, sorta like Butch. If Mario is the hire, prepare to drop 1~2 games to nobodies (like he’s doing now🙄) and he will be run the *** outta town…quick. Let’s stop with the political bullsh1t? We don’t have kids constantly on the ol’ police blotter or kids Wylin’ out? We don’t need a “new sheriff in town”, coming to clean up the place, lol. We need a COACH WHO KNOWS WHAT THE *** HE’S DOING ON GAME DAY. Lane is the guy, my guy. Period point blank. Let’s stop ***king around and gobget this dude…

You know a lot of assumptions are made on CIS in the absence of facts. We know she was sports administrator for football and was part of Blake's staff, so she gets criticized. And, you also know what criticism looks like on this board.

There may well be some who have issues with "forced diversity," but she seems to be guilty by association mainly, unless someone has direct evidence of her making decisions detrimental to the football program. If so, I have not read them.

This all day! And HE WANTS the JOB!! Ridiculous we are gonna ***** this up again!

As much as Miami is known for football, our baseball program was also elite until Blake ruined that too. We were on a streak of 40+ years of making it to the post season. We need an AD not just a football guy
Exactly my thoughts. Football had its hay day but Miami is an elite baseball school. Top 5 of all time. Hate to break it to the people here, the baseball program is more storied than football. Ron Fraser is the reason college baseball is relevant and on national tv.

I'm guessing Wednesday will get here and the politician will still be the coach. Buyout down by $2 million. People will scream more patience. Friday will come and go no news just rumors. People again: "R-E-L-A-X have patience they're doing it right this time. 7-10 days we should here something". AND I'M GOING TO FALL FOR IT BECAUSE I'VE FELL FOR IT THE LAST 17 YEARS! But if that clueless mf is allowed to lead this team another year, I give up.

The following post comes from another site - I think the OP makes a number of good points. It makes sense if you think about it. As fans, we don't like that the process isn't moving at the pace we would like but there are some mitigating factors.

" I believe it is not mis-direction, but rather a quite calculated strategy to get from Point A (Blake and Manny) to Point B (New AD and Mario/Lane/etc). I'm quite confident that the backchannel communications with the top HC candidates have occurred and they know where they stand. The issue has been trying to hire a new AD and HC while minimizing unnecessary buyouts/costs. The key to all of this timing is the Dec 1 change in Manny's buyout. The Admin can't show any indication that they have decided or intend to fire Manny prior to Dec 1 otherwise he has potential legal grounds to sue for the full buyout even if they don't officially fire him until Dec 1 or later. Plus, as a lucky strike extra, they have now saved on any Lashlee buyout and perhaps a couple others if Lashlee hires any of the offensive staff.

Based on the above, I think that very, very likely they have a verbal assurance from one of their top HC choices that he will accept a specific offer when it is presented. They will then announce the hiring of a new AD later this week, who will "evaluate" Manny and make a decision to fire him after Dec 1. They will then owe Manny the reduced buyout with no legal exposure. Then, a few days later, they reach a written agreement to hire the new HC (presumably after Oregon's Pac 12 Championship game if its Mario)."

Quite frankly, the legal aspects of the buyout have not been discussed here that I’ve seen. As I’ve mentioned several times, the only people that really know what’s going on are those directly involved in the process.

This can’t be true. CIS says Miami is a **** show, dragging its feet with no plan.

Some of these points may be relevant but it still doesn’t excuse the fact that:

The university was prepared for sweeping changes snd took longer than needed to fire BJ and then because of internal arguing hire a new AD

Only Miami would commingle the AD snd HC hiring processes

I love Zo. Absolutely love him. However, generally I’d tend to prefer someone with actual success in this role. But in this case I don’t know that we could expect to hire anyone who has the gravitas and willingness to push back on all of this BOT BS and demand that we thrive for greatness and not mediocrity. This hire isn't what I’d want in a normal situation..,but this is Miami and it ain’t normal.

Points well taken. I just found it interesting that the possible legal ramifications on firing Diaz now had not been discussed.

That’s the one variable that I’ve gotten conflicting data on…. A Dec 1 reduction in Manny’s buyout

Anything short of hiring Mario shortly after Oregon’s game on Friday, and our fanbase will riot for two reasons

- putting all their eggs in one basket
- the sequence and timing of their process for AD and HC

For the record I would happily bring in Kiffin as option 1b
