Big update from Herald

Serious question: How do us little people make it known that we cannot continue to accept the embarrassing nature of our school and program.
Ultimately with your wallet unfortunately. Someone somewhere at sometime may have provided contact information for certain members of the BOT’s who matter. Unfortunately for a multitude of reasons that is not the best avenue right now. Would love to help in that regard but have to pass.

If the BOT is indeed down to Alonzo and Gino, Gino will get the nod. I've met him on a couple occasions and he's an impressive guy. Articulate. Professional. Very polished. I'm sure he'd impress a bunch of business types because he looks like them and talks like them. He is what they know and who they've dealt with in their "business lives."

Why would Alonzo being in charge of football be great?

His qualifications: Miami bro, put on the cleats, NFL scout.
I think “in charge of football” means evaluations, going to the AD for $$ for facilities, etc. Maybe have some input on OOC scheduling.

AD can then be more of a fundraising position, and determine how to split up the money on non-revenue sports.

Basically, the guy with only football experience only handles football. And a guy with administrative experience handles the rest.

Mario and Zo is a home run if you ask me.

@DMoney Appreciate the update from the Herald. First, and I’ve said it before, Manny is gone. The message conveyed by the Herald that it’s a football only decision is not correct, at least in JF’s thought process. JF has driven this change starting with BJ months ago and many BOT members have followed him and put their faith in him. Either he has done a complete 180 or it’s incorrect information provided by the Herald.
I want to believe you. I truly do, but history tells us otherwise.

If there is a way to ***** something up, this University will find it.

I said that only to make a point that if they want to put Zo in charge of football only then at least he has some experience with it but that doesn’t solve the problem that’s there’s a whole bunch of other sports that will need attention as well so whose doing that.

this board has a disdain for women and it's weird TBH.
Nobody has a disdain for women. We have a disdain for priorities being in the wrong place. She was part of the Blake James failure and clearly had no intention of doing anything but giving interviews about “diversity.” The school has to get rid of everything but the pursuit of winning. Nothing else should matter.

I like that he is an experienced AD, but I am more impressed with what he did at LSU. Not only was he promoted over and over, but he handled a portfolio as an AAD that most AD's never get to realize. I don't know a lot about him, but he certainly checks a lot of boxes.
He was smack in the middle of the whole mess at LSU…so if he can be hired why can’t Jurich…oh wait I know….they need another yes man and know Zo ain’t it.

I’m passionate about football too and I’ve run my company for 40 years but that doesn’t make me qualified to run an athletics dept.

At least Zo has been involved with football…

Never said he should run the AD, don't think ZO or Gino should be tapped for that, replying based on article/OP. But in a director of football ops role, think both could do well at it. Like I said in another post, rather it be outside guys but it seems the University continues to dig in with Miami guys or ties, but we could do way worse than guys like Zo or Gino is all I am saying.

The guards sprung me loose just in time.

Anyone supporting the hiring of an AD with zero experience, after 20 years athletic of humiliation, needs their head examined. Especially on the heels of a university press release extolling their newfound commitment to sports and push to focus on athletics, pounding their chest about their readiness to make splash hires and back up the truck for some heavy hitters.

Instead who do we get? Ex players who have no clue what they're doing. Zo, Toretta, any of these dudes would signify the absolute clown show hasn't ended in the circus is still raging on.

This monogloid idea that "soMeOne muSt GeT OuR CulTure" sounds like something said in between huffs of paint from a brown bag. What's our culture-- Losing? Getting blown out? Repeatedly making amateur hires? Not winning anything meaningful?

We should find someone who understands WINNING culture. Period. I don't care if they think Lil Havana is a rapper and can't speak a lick of Spanish, what's most important is proven success and experience, not some ties to the damned school or the city of Miami. Get someone who knows how to run a successful athletic department and hire quality coaches, and has a history of doing such.

Many on the BOT never learn and neither do our fans. We're going to continue down the path of two decades of mostly "Miami guy hires" with no regard for more important qualifications (ie EXPERIENCE) and keep stacking our losses wondering why it isn't working.
No experienced AD would walk into the financial albatross that hiring Mario represents. They need a Jack Ruby type to come in and kill Mario and then take the rap for the next disaster.

Evaluations of what?
Why you need someone separate to go to the AD for $$ or scheduling?

Zo has 0 experience being an administrator in college football.
