Big update from Herald

The upper levels of the University of Miami football administration would like to hire an athletic director who understands the culture of Hurricanes football and is intimately familiar with the market

Why? Why? Why does the new AD need to have an intimate connection with Miami???? What makes this stupid piece of land so different that what works in any other part of the country wouldn't work here?

HIRE THE BEST ******* PERSON -- REGARDLESS OF HOW MANY TIMES THEY'VE BEEN TO VERSAILLES!!!!!

Why is Toretta even considered (genuine question)? What has he done to give any indication he'd be good?

Zo I sort of get for football purposes ....but man idk I really thought he'd be better just over fball and have a real, experienced, professional AD in place.....I mean hiring first time HC has gone well right?

Have you listened to any podcasts or other things Gino has been on? He might not be in the athletic game directly but he's very passionate about football. He is a firm believer in that the QB defines the program, and you do whatever it takes to stack QB talent, he knows football more than you think. Yeah he's probably not an Urban Meyer x's and o's guy but that's not what we need, but he's a good man and a natural leader that loves FB.

What an absolute crock of **** the first paragraph is, only Miami bros wanted

The upper levels of the University of Miami football administration would like to hire an athletic director who understands the culture of Hurricanes football and is intimately familiar with the market, a source involved in the process said over the weekend.
Translation: they want to keep the current donations coming, while attracting new money with a new AD hire

You do realize Highsmith hasn't been a part of the University nor culture during the 20 years you're complaining about right?
I'm 100% okay with Highsmith coming on board. The idea of elevating Strawley or anyone else that's been in Hecht throughout this whole debacle is frightening.
I'm just tired of the whole "getting MIami guys" **** we've been seeing for a while now. Just get the best person for the job, that may very well be Zo

Papa John did more for Louisville than Jurich. Ya’ll need to settle down and see what happens. There’s a reason why no one in college athletics has hired Jurich in the last FOUR years.
Because he was a sacrificial lamb. Louisville was under heavy investigation when he took the job and he made things right. Or better yet go back to when he was at CSU. His reputation for doing things right is not questioned by those who know both the man and the professional.

Why focusing on Strawley now? Do we have to find something to complain about? Focus on the adults in the room and who is the Alpha in that department.
We want Diaz to be gone.........check
We want a winning coach.......check
We want someone who is a fan of college football, understand football and in charge of all things football at the university..........check
Of course all that if what has been reported above is true.
We don't have to get "our" man hired. We don't have to get exactly what we want. As long as the goals are met......we should be happy.

You don’t fire an AD this close to the early signing period without having a replacement on deck-at least smart administrations don’t? These people are not stupid, brother- you don’t achieve that level of success by being dumb. The problem with these motherfukkers is that they sincerely believe that (because of their level of achievement/status) the “common man “, I.e. the fan base, is an oft uneducated, low brow dummy. They are the decision makers, not because of qualification, but because of a super inflated sense of elitism. And that’s cool, but the problem with this ideological premise is that the results are left wanting. Their bullsh1t doesn’t and hasn’t worked? But because most of us (fans) are deemed as blue collar morons, we couldn’t possibly know better than they do? So they will be absolutely DAMNED if they follow the advise or suggestions from the likes of “you people”. That’s why it seems like they ALWAYS go against, what is obvious to us, the best available option.
BJ firing was based on the **** he pulled prior to the NC state.

"The upper levels of the University of Miami football administration would like to hire an athletic director who understands the culture of Hurricanes football and is intimately familiar with the market"

FAIL.

How does this help us win more games? What they SHOULD be looking for is someone with a proven track record of building the infrastructure it takes to win football games. Someone who has built a winner from scratch. Someone like Jurich.

If "understanding the culture" and "familiarity with the market" are really the big things they're looking for, I read that as code for "we want a Miami bro."

That's not what serious investing in the football program looks like.

I want Highsmith in a football ops role. He's extremely talented and there is no question he needs to be part of the solution. But I also want an ***-kicker in the AD role, someone with some mileage on their tires, someone who has proven they can get it done. I don't want the guy from New Mexico, or Jen Strawley, or Fat Fernandez.

This cronyism and buddy-buddy **** is getting very old very quickly.
