Big update from Herald

Took them two weeks to circle back to Zo, Torretta and ******* Strawley

Three people who have zero experience. Unbelievable man
The whole thing was an illusion my guy, that was the plan from the beginning...

Hire a search firm, tell them exactly who they’re supposed to look into, throw out a big name to satisfy the piranha fans & when everything comes back bad, say “Oh well, we tried, guess we gotta settle with the two guys we wanted from the start 🤷🏽‍♂️

This is Miami, whenever there’s a job opening available in athletics & you hear a bunch of big names being thrown about, just know 98.9% of the time none of those names are ever seriously in consideration & nobody who’s making decisions is even thinking about them.

It’s all just fluff & bluster for the fans, but you can bet your bottom dollar it’s gonna be the safest, easiest & dumbest choice possible, every **** time, hook, line & sinker, take that sh*t to the bank.

He made a big name hire in getting Pitino’s kid. The only positive is getting into the Pitino/Donovan coaching circle.
Ya I was thinking myself that Jurich would be bringing Pitino and that immediately puts basketball too 5-10 in the country.

Not sure if hiring his kid leverages him to hiring Rick or if there’s any relationship there. We couldn’t hire Jurich so I doubt we’ll be able to pull Pitino either but maybe he can hire someone to salvage us to a competitive team in the ACC again.

I'm honestly leaning this way based on the timing and content of this particular leak. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking.
If this is correct, which again I don’t think it is, JF will have a very long uphill battle the rest of his time here. The trail of money across the school runs deeper than and beyond the walls of the athletic department.

Imagine going through the last two decades we have and the university says, "it's time for things to change", and we hire someone with zero experience in the AD role AND keep on an additional person to "help" them. I really hope this isn't true. Miami needs to revamp all sports, including football. They need to navigate a really delicate time in college sports. You need someone with experience to do that.

If they can't lure a good AD in here with the promise of one of the highest football budgets in the country then we have major issues.

@DMoney Appreciate the update from the Herald. First, and I’ve said it before, Manny is gone. The message conveyed by the Herald that it’s a football only decision is not correct, at least in JF’s thought process. JF has driven this change starting with BJ months ago and many BOT members have followed him and put their faith in him. Either he has done a complete 180 or it’s incorrect information provided by the Herald.

The Herald printing incorrect information? IMPOSSIBLE!!!

I know nothing, but isn’t Strawley just a puppet? She did what blake told her to do, no?

Her name somehow became toxic on the internet, but can’t she possibly be beneficial if we hire Zo? If she has a new boss and does what she is told, why get rid of her (I am literally asking that question, not posing it as a hypothetical - if anyone has specific reasons then please reply)?

Seems like it would be good for fundraising, continuity, etc. If there are real reasons to get rid of her, fine. But if it because non-alumni, out of state, banner flying fans don’t like her… well that’s a whole different story.

I’ll summarize, we have major issues.

I’d say they both report above. Neither have any leverage over the other.

That’s how I would do it anyway.

Zo is exclusive to football and Strawley is his assistant for administrative tasks and typical AD assignments and dealings. Nunez covers all other sports and doesn’t have the assistant.

I am not as sold on Nunez. Sorry.

Why is it so difficult for these morons to hire an experienced athletic director from another University? Why do we have to be “Miami bro”?

Bruh, Zo is an eXEcuTiVe in the nfl. The nfl is about football, the AD oversees football. Football is the connection.

Gino does asset management. That involves money, and the AD role involves money. Money is the connection.

Let's roll with Miami bros. What could go wrong?

Understanding that I neither believe she should get the job nor is being seriously considered as a factor, could someone tell me what drives the dislike for her on here? Seems like she does miscellaneous, largely inconsequential admin things as essentially the head admin, right?
