RB is one of those positions where it should be undervalued in terms of NIL because Committee approach is way better $/product.
But I do think in college IF you get a stud for 3yrs, it is actually well worth the money usually - if they are actually treated like a bellcow like Jeanty was. However I think that's NOT best for the actual player himself... So I can see this being good for Auburn (assuming MJC is a legit dawg), bad for MJC, and an obvious choice for us not to match... However if Auburn doesn't just work MJC into the dirt, and he's making a **** load of money, and ultimately the scheme is fine for RBs and his talent is there which is ultimately what matters for RBs in draft... Well could turn out to be a great decision by him. It really just depends if he expected to get 300carries or more/yr. Like if after 3 yrs he has 700 carries, that's a lot of wear and tear. But also RB is the position you want to maximize your money and get to the NFL as early as possible. So....

As far as well worth it and then using jeante as an example all that really proves is that you shouldn't be wasting money on these kids out of high school like that at that position. How much do you think Boise gave janty? It's the perfect example that an offensive line and scheme are just as responsible at this level for production at running back then a lot of other factors. obviously there needs to be some form of talent but if you can get production to another tier out of the dude that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg like mice and Johnson cook was trying then why would you pay it? it's pointless...

Oh yeah I fully agree. Once they are proven elite they are “worth it” is more what I was saying. I don’t like paying RBs highly, but for a truly elite guy, I think you just do it. But I also wouldn’t want to get a portal guy like that either. I want our RBs purely out of HS. I’d want to have hit on a HS rb and then give them a big raise their So/JR yr if you have a AP level talent…

I like getting a mid 4star type kinda like we have and another super talented 3star type. Especially like going nation for the big name at getting 1 local dude yearly (if the local guy is elite then that’s 2burds)

Fiscal discipline is a key facet of modern day roster building in college football. I hope we stick to our principles...

He was injured in high school and had durability challenges in college, including his last season with UConn. However, Burns ended up with a two year NFL stint with the Falcons as a fullback.

I agree but some people dont see it that way. They want all the carries cause they got it in HS but they werent getting hit by Bain and Moten and Torre all game. Lol
They will learn like Fletcher has that it's best to share and be ready for the big playoff games.
