Both meeting soon too talk. I predict something similar to what the acc has with nd
That sounds dirty. All the Big12 schools are going to go independent and then milk the Pac12?
Either ND joins the ACC or we end up with the B1G
We lose Clemson and FSU we are a G5 conference football wiseJust saw something:
FSU & Clemson reportedly reached out to The SEC about joining.
Kansas to the B1G is imminent
WVA to the ACC is imminent
LA Tech & Louisiana in talks of joining B12
AAC looking to scoop up B12 teams in hopes of becoming a P5.
Yup. And ND aint signing up to join if them two are in talks with sec...... and then guess what, we'll be on the outside looking in.We lose Clemson and FSU we are a G5 conference football wise
Are we really a good fit for the ACC? Its a North Carolina centric basketball conference. I dont think there is a fool proof answer, my comment was more because of what @jmccomber5 wrote - we may have no choice.I think there's a better chance that we end up in a different conference than ND joining us unless the Tobacco Road mafia somehow makes them an offer they can't refuse. I would love to have ND join the conference in football by the way.
But do we really fit in the B1G? I guess that would be the only other conference left on the east coast but that just seems like a different brand of football than we play.
Rather just got independent at that pointYup. And ND aint signing up to join if them two are in talks with sec...... and then guess what, we'll be on the outside looking in.
The buyout for any acc team to leave is well over a hundred million with acc media rights through 2036Just saw something:

No acc team is leaving. This talking point needs to stop. No team financially can afford it, members are bound to the league through its media rights deal through the 2035-2036 academic year.I'd rather be part of an expanding AAC than than the ACC without FSU/Clemson. Do we need to grovel to join one of the other existing major conferences to be relevant? Being part of the Big East didn't stop us from becoming national Champs.
If the AAC really wants to conference like a boss and signs exclusive rights with Amazon or Netflix, I think Miami would be wise to join. Imagine every time you went to the Amazon site to buy something, the site was filled with ads for an upcoming Miami game and anyone around the world could watch it on Prime. No need to buy special acc packages on cable or pay $25 for Disney/ESPN Ultra Plus Elite to watch the Canes on espn8.
Oh btw here is an interesting read on conference merger mania from the good ol' days

U of Miami Joins the Big East Conference
The University of Miami joined the Big East Conference today in an alliance that Commissioner Mike Tranghese said would save the conference.www.latimes.com
Hence their pending crisis management "Constitutional Convention"BTW; The NCAA needs to be absolutely disbanded. All of this is total b.s. From the NIL lack of regulations or structure, to teams just up & leaving conferences to make super conferences which interferes w/ judgement & bias w/in the CFP committee!

The grant of rights works like this… if a school wants to leave the ACC, it would have to pay $26 million (the average annual cost of the media deal) times the number of years remaining on the TV contract.
So if the Big Ten wanted us or the SEC wanted Clemson after the 2021 football season, it would cost $390 million.
