We looked like the same team as last week. The only thing that changed was the quality of opponent. FCS blowouts don't mean much, but consistency is identity. This is a physical and serious team. Position-by-position thoughts below:

QB

Carson Beck
is a 23-year-old first round quarterback. Like Bo Nix at Oregon, he makes it look easy by consistently making the right play. Bethune didn't provide much resistance, but we're going to have an advantage up front every week in the ACC...

some thoughts so far.

Beck looks extremetly calm and comfortable. Makes the right throws.

Fletcher was coming off an injury last year and his pops died midseason. people dont know how much of a locker room leader he is. he is a A+ person in the lock room and tough.

CJ Daniels looks healthy and better than I thought. The fact he has barely dropped a college pass says alot because his hands are unreal.
Toney is the best WR we have recruited since AR. this kid is just different. Ray Ray looks quicker, maybe they find ways to get him the ball.

Schott is a future 1st rounder imo

Lightfoot is almost like a hybrid LB. VERY fast for his position.

Bryce is the fastest safety we have had in a while. watch how fast he got to that INT. Scott is playing very well.
Thomas is all over the field. Pruitt is where he belongs at safety. Both Pruitt and Bryce has natural instincts for the ball.

Yep I'm not sure why Fletcher gets hate. Yea he had a couple fumbles last year but he’s off to a great start this year. Also could you share with us why they didn’t put Nickel in? Even if it was for the 4th quarter.

@DMoney whose on-field performance has EXCEEDED your expectations based on what you saw in fall camp?

And are there any players of note from your standpoint who are healthy but not getting snaps when you thought they would?

Cam Ward

I'd like to see more of Daylyn Upshaw. He has a well-rounded skillset and works hard. On Saturday, he played sudden and strong after the catch.

Players are pretty much playing like they practiced, and the snap counts have been as expected.

I’d say CJ Daniels has answered the bell. I didn’t know how it would look at full speed with live bullets, but he’s separating enough and catching everything.

Love Beck but do realize he has been under very little pressure due to our great OL. Only 4 hurries vs ND and on many plays yesterday he had all day to throw.
Not a criticism just something to factor in while judging his performance so far.

Team is deep with talent. Next three games will decide who is the best in the state of Florida, and I'm confident Miami will earn the title.

We all knew what we were getting with Lucas. Stud. But Scott's play so far has shocked me in how impactful he can be. We struck gold there. Thomas while not jumping off the page quite so much is also showing he "belongs".

The young guys looked impressive, but made young guy mistakes:
* Moore should have caught that ball from Emory. If that were Daniels, it would have been 6. Gilbert most likely also gets to the EZ in a similar pass/catch situation a year from now.
* Lightfoot looks electric, but he also lost contain on that one play where he chased the guy down. 5 star talent, but we can see why he is being brought on slowly.
* Wiley got washed out a couple times, too. But he ended up with the highest tackle count according to ESPN. Definitely brings it.
* Simpson had some technique issues and got out maneuvered a couple time. But he impressed me. Want to see more of him as Moten/Blay will play at a higher tempo with added rotation.

I'm still waiting for Scott to do 5-star things. He's shown he's good, not shown he's great. Moten and Blay are rightfully the starters at this point.

You were right about Fitzgerald. Kid is the goods. And Upshaw is much more solid than I expected, looks like he can be folded into the rotation sooner than later.
