BEST pocket passer at the U....

You don't even have any idea...
#1 The ONLY reason he Beat out Testeverde was because of his Smarts
#2 His slurred speech is from Medical issues....

That’s great.

Dorsey still more cerebral on field than Bernie.

Pictures don’t lie.

No way anyone mentioned is more of a nerd than Dorsey. Behold, the Bobby Fischer of Miami Hurricane QBs

Dorsey: Best rhythm and timing as a passer that i can remember i was born in 94 so didnt see Vinny, Kosar or Kelly so i cant speak on them but since Iv been watching he was the best. Morris was a pretty good QB from the pocket and even Jacory and Kaaya had there moments forsure. The real question is with the move to an uptempo spread style of offense in CFB why is UM always seem to be a day late and a dollar short with there offensive schemes?

Testaverde is the most physically gifted QB to ever play at Miami, and the QB in second place is not in the same league athletically. Kelly had almost comparable arm talent and was (and is) tough as nails. Kosar, Walsh, and Dorsey were more cerebral because they had to be. They couldn't escape a pocket unless the defense took a knee. Erickson seems to be forgotten but was a really good college QB.

This thread shows how far QB U has fallen.

Testeverde in a Landslide....and if the Pocket completely broke down...He could scramble like nobodys business...Testerverde throwing a FB from the Pocket had No Peers in UM History...
Remind me again how many INTs he threw against PSU, trying to be a pocket passer. Kosar had better touch, vision, and decision making. I wish he stayed 4 years.

That's one game....Go watch the umpteen other Huge games where he Riddled Great Secondarys...One Bad game vs a Bunch of Great Games....

Walsh was the Bob Griese clone, just got the job done without losing games. Vinny was more Superman. In the pocket though I take Walsh. Bernie was a great pre-snap QB, knew where he was going with the ball quickly. Dorsey was a real student of the game and also did not lose games as Vinny did in the Fiesta Bowl.

That’s why I listed those guys.

Kosar, Walsh, and Dorsey all had those surgical signature drives where they just picked the defense apart on the way to victory. Vinny was great, but he didn’t have that (as the bowl performances highlight). He had great games, put up huge numbers, and the Vinny bombs were a thing of beauty. But when it comes to pure pocket passers it has to be one of the other three.

Vinnie. Bar none.

I have a lot of issues with Vinnie and wouldn't necessarily choose him over Kosar or Walsh to lead my team, however, the dude was born to be a QB and had more natural QB talent - by far - than anyone who's ever taken snaps here. He was a thing of beauty in the pocket and could also escape from pressure when he needed to do so.

If him Kelly played on any of our nc teams he'd be #1 period.to compare testaverde, kosar, dorsey, torretta,Walsh and Erickson hard to do.they were all talented but they also had a pretty good players around them as wel!.how many pro bowlers ,hof,1st round draft choice where in the stable when they played compared to kelly.if Kelly played on any of those teams I'd bet hed won a heisman or two.I would go as far as saying I doubt we'd lost a game during that time as well.

And he also graduated in a little over 2 years....smart move as he got to go in supplemental draft so he could cash in. Excellent college and NFL Career.

Now about his daughter.......hhmm

Jim was not really mobile. He had a nickname among his teammates, "slewfoot", because he was so slow. I think Testaverde was best pure passer at UM, period. I go back and look at highlights thirty years ago and he had jaw-dropping velocity and accuracy on some of his medium range balls.

3rd and long was no problem. I remember praying for a 10 yard penalty when we had a 3 and 4. We certainly had a run on QBs back then and they were not systems types like so many today. Steve was actually my favorite- only one loss and that was cheating before God. But if I had to take one for one game for the title, it would always be Bernie. Pure ice in that boy’s veins. For one play, it has to be Vinny.
