Benedict Cristobal is gone

If he takes the job it takes Mario out of the HC job if Al leaves. Bama just bought few 2014 kids from South Florida.

Coaches are playing games like high school kids these days. No loyalty, only looking to get paid top dollar. Why **** on your alma matar?

As Franchise said, perhaps Pete Garcia wasn't out of line when he canned that weasel. I never really thought very highly of the guy as a coach, so I am not concerned about the loss.

Go hire Telly Lockette to be the WR corch at UM. I would love to see Lockette kick the crap out of Crystal Ball on the recruiting trail.

Yep, looks like Pete was on to something and AL got played!!

Interesting thought. Definitely could be one of the better options being as most staffs have started to settle in this late in the process.

there is a good chance that he might take the job but so far the only report is that he has been offered. That tweet is just CaneInsider throwing out they are expecting him to take it so that they have a chance to "break the news" as fake insiders. No different than the people on here who said he's gone a day or two ago. whole lot of posters were "expecting" him to leave, doesn't mean they have actual information
Agreed. IIRC, CaneInsider was also the site that "broke the news" of Gruden to Miami, so I would say take it with a grain of salt until we have confirmation that he has actually accepted the position.

Edit: nevermind. Looking like they were right on this one.

Didn't Lockette already turn us down once?

No, this was an inaccurate comment on here. The Herald talked to Bennett and Lockette after the interview process, and while both were disappointed, they both respected Golden for giving them a shot.

As far as Mario goes, if these reports are true it is a pretty garbage thing to do to Golden and to your former school. I have watched this whole arguement play out through the 27 pages and have this to say. If Mario's "goal" is indeed to be a head coach one day very soon, then why the *** didn't he leave to interview for all of these other jobs that came open? Why wouldn't he take an assistant job in the NFL, knowing full well he would then have more leverage to re-enter the college game for head coaching gigs? Those people saying that Alabama gives you "more exposure" for such opportunities, fail to grasp that he has HAD THOSE OPPORTUNITIES (including salary increases) already and has passed them up. And that was at FIU!! So why does he leave now?

Seems to me like he does not like his role on the current staff or maybe his working relationship with his peers. Which is still a bull**** excuse if you ask me. This is a grimy manuever in every sense of the word for a loyalty perspective.

As far as the impact on Miami, it is really not that bad. We can now go hire a Bennett or a Lockette, or even a guy who was some experiences working with WR's (unlike Cristobal). His relationships with our 2014 kids cannot be too developed, as he has only been here a month or so. Also, Alabama will cherry pick S. FL regardless of Cristobal. His addition to their staff will not be a deciding factor for a kid to head there. It will be the fact that they have won 3 of the past 4 titles, and have become a bonafide NFL factory. So Cristobal, **** you and so long.

Big get for Bama. RT @JFowlerCBS Alabama is hiring Mario Cristobal as O-line coach, per source. He's in Tuscaloosa today to finalize deal.
