Benedict Cristobal is gone

Difficult situation if true. Golden shuffled staff to accomodate Mario, and now may have to move BC again. Would it surprise anyone if we went ahead and went after Telly Lockette or Sed Irvin?

there are new NCAA rules wrt coaching staff and the number of recruiters you can have, etc. i dont know all the details but I bet that this interview has to do with that.

Saban is creating a ******* recruiting TEAM at Bama that only recruits. he probably wants as much SFL connection as possible. Cristobal will make our life that much more difficult if he's recruiting for ******* bama down here

The only issue with that is the NCAA just INCREASED the number of staff members that could recruit.

As for the pay increase - no doubt he'll get a big one at bama, but I will wager that after a couple years at UM, that money will be there for him (if he's as good as he thinks he is). This short term approach is short sighted if this is a money issue. the money will eventually be there for him

It's not like he'd be at Bama any longer than he'd be at UM, or vice versa. The idea is to get the most money at the best position in a short amount of time before going on as an HC somewhere. Whatever he thinks will accomplish that goal is what he'll choose.

I get the profession - upward mobility to the max. I get that. However, one month into his current gig at his alma matter when he'll be at bama for what - a few years? You don't think that he can get that money at a top program if he stays at UM?

I'm sure he can. But look at it this way:

Let's say that his final destination--an HC gig in a power conference--is the same whether he's at UM or Bama. And let's say it takes him the same amount of time to reach that destination, probably 2 years.

Now, let's assume that the rumors are true that he'd make 500k/yr at UM. And we know that he feels money is an issue. So let's just guesstimate and say that Bama would pay him 650-700k/yr.

Over 2 years, he'd make 300-400k more at Bama than he would at UM. That's almost an extra year's salary at UM.

f him. He should have taken the nfl offers then that he was supposed to have had. Money there. Could have had that cash without ******** over his school

Mario will NEVER be the head coach of UM now. Good job *******.

This is so true. New coach needs booster support. And Mario won't get it if ever rumored to be in the running. I'm personally fairly positive about that as well.

I hope he takes the job and all he drama that goes with him! Definitely don't look at him the same, even if he were to stay.

meh. Disappointing for sure, but not crippling. Carroll back to TE coach, and ______ to WR coach?

Please don't let him back on campus.

More ****ed that we missed on Lubbick because of him.

**** him. Snake *** *****. You don't jump ship when your school is trying to rebuild the program after being down for so long. Help it for a year then do your thing.

Honestly I think this hurts Mario in the long run more than it does us. Don't get me wrong - I'm sure he'll be back in the head coaching ranks soon enough and be laughing all the way to the bank. That said, he'll be persona-non-grata in UM circles pretty much forever now. We can always get another TE coach/recruiter. He might not be able to show his face in South Florida again...

there is a good chance that he might take the job but so far the only report is that he has been offered. That tweet is just CaneInsider throwing out they are expecting him to take it so that they have a chance to "break the news" as fake insiders. No different than the people on here who said he's gone a day or two ago. whole lot of posters were "expecting" him to leave, doesn't mean they have actual information
