Benedict Cristobal is gone

What a POS. Crown Pete Garcia. He saw the man's soul and punted him. Turned out he was onto something.

As for the pay increase - no doubt he'll get a big one at bama, but I will wager that after a couple years at UM, that money will be there for him (if he's as good as he thinks he is). This short term approach is short sighted if this is a money issue. the money will eventually be there for him

It's not like he'd be at Bama any longer than he'd be at UM, or vice versa. The idea is to get the most money at the best position in a short amount of time before going on as an HC somewhere. Whatever he thinks will accomplish that goal is what he'll choose.

I get the profession - upward mobility to the max. I get that. However, one month into his current gig at his alma matter when he'll be at bama for what - a few years? You don't think that he can get that money at a top program if he stays at UM?

I'm sure he can. But look at it this way:

Let's say that his final destination--an HC gig in a power conference--is the same whether he's at UM or Bama. And let's say it takes him the same amount of time to reach that destination, probably 2 years.

Now, let's assume that the rumors are true that he'd make 500k/yr at UM. And we know that he feels money is an issue. So let's just guesstimate and say that Bama would pay him 650-700k/yr.

Over 2 years, he'd make 300-400k more at Bama than he would at UM. That's almost an extra year's salary at UM.

Here is an idea...why don't you order some Bama gear and start an official Mario Cristabama fan club?
Fkn sellout.

IMO, This will only hurt as of now that Mario part of the reshaping of our recruiting strategy. .
But in the long run not so much.

**** Mario - may only be at Bama until another HC job opens..

If he is gone, you have to wonder how that had to do with Coley?

I keep seeing this question and I think folks are looking at this backwards.
No way Cristabama leaves because he feels slighted at Coley's salary/position.
If anything, I think it would be Coley helping Mario get that Bama gig, and I would hope
Golden has his head on a swivel the next time Saban is looking for an OC.

Kinda sucks but but this makes room for either a qb coach or maybe a guy like Telly Lockette gets a shot.

I hate that the guy is gone, if it's true. But I'm not gonna whine about it like some of you wimpering ladies. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. He's either with us or against us, and now he's against us...so be it.

I left the question vague and open ended because I dont necessarily think Cristobal felt he got slighted, as much as it was something that worked out for both parties. The way I see it, outside of Golden the only ace recruiter we really had was Barrow. We need to beef up that side, well we got a whale in Cristobal, but it was painfully obvious he was gonna only stick around as long as a HC job he desired didnt open up. Cristobal was gonna leave sooner than later, and this would hurt a lot more than say if it happened in January. Coley will stick around for a couple of years because he still needs to prove himself. Bama will give him the exposure he needs to get on the super fast track back to being a HC. The only part that kills me, is that Cristobal would give Bama another presence in SF, and God knows we dont need that....

Bring in Ray Lewis! Recruits, local coaches, assistants would be less likely to play Golden and the U if the Tossed Salad Man was on staff!

While I hate how he treated Golden and UM, why do we have to engage in name calling. He`s gone, now we need to move on and find the best replacement.

Why engage in name calling? Because if this pans out to be true then he pulled a d!ck move on us that's why. Sometimes d!cks earn the title of d!ck.

So moving forward - what position do we now need to replace? TE coach? Move Carroll back and find a WR coach?
