Benedict Cristobal is gone

Heard an interesting tidbit regarding Cristobal's pay....FIU pays his salary up to his rate as HC at FIU. So for example, if he makes 200k here, FIU then pays the difference up to the rate he made at FIU. Would it surprise anyone if he was severely underpaid here....knowing FIU picks up the difference no matter what? Another thing, Stoutland was making 390k at Alabama, why is Mario worth over 500k all of a sudden as an oline coach?

I think he was making $500k at FIU. So Bama could pay him $900k and FIU would have to cover $500k of it, and it wouldnt cost them more than they were paying Stout. I'm not 100% sure of this but I think that's pretty close.

Not what I understood...FIU only pays up to the 500k in difference, so if Alabama pays him 900k, it's all on Alabama. If they pay him 390k like Stoutland then FIU picks up the 110k difference.

Ah, I see the difference. As I said, I'm not sure. Ok regardless then, I'd normally say that the $ difference would be negligible, but with Bama you never know.

If he can get just two so fla recruits without having to pay them, that would save Abalama $150--300K. That alone covers his salary delta relative to Stoutland.

What a pile of **** that rag is. Al hired Fredo knowing he'd be looking for another job in a month? Yeah sure. And then to assume its a good move because he wants to be a HC and won't be one at UM but I'm sure they're going to hire him at Alabama. LULZ. Didn't Fredo get his last HCing gig as a result of working at UM? None of it makes sense.

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but maybe the Bama job was something he had an idea that it was going to come open after he was let go at FIU and wanted that job. It didn't come open in a timely fashion, the Miami situation presented itself and not knowing for sure if or when the Bama OL job was going to open up, he took the Miami job because he did not want to lose an ideal consolation prize while waiting on an unkown. Fast forward a month and he goes after what he was dead set on from the beginning, k
ning he already has a solid job.

Then he's a douche.

Still don't think he's taking that job if offered.

True, but Stoutland was no slouch...he recruited Amari Cooper. The marginal impact of hiring Cristobal doesn't seem that great. You also have some fallout with your other coaches if all of a sudden you bring in Cristobal at 600-700k+.

Here's the 2012 breakdown.

Kirby Smart, defensive coordinator/linebackers, $950,00
Doug Nussmeier, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks, $590,000
Jeff Stoutland, offensive line, $395,000
Lance Thompson, outside linebackers, $375,000
Bobby Williams, special teams/tight ends, $350,000
Chris Rumph, defensive line, $310,000
Burton Burns, associate head coach/running backs, $290,000
Mike Groh, receivers/recruiting coordinator, $285,000
Jeremy Pruitt, secondary, $260,000

At this point I HOPE he gets the job and leaves for good. Rather him leave now then before signing day next year.

Al basically hired an overqualified dude with full knowledge that he was overqualified and would be moving on at the first (better) opportunity. If Mario splits, it is what it is. Happens all the time when you hired overqualified people. It's a chance you take when you make the choice to hire that person.

I was laid off from my job a couple years back. After I got let go, I took the first job that I was offered next, even though it was a position that was beneath me. My new boss knew it, and I knew it. I worked there for a couple months, then got a better job at a more prestigious company for more money. Guess that makes me a Fredo.

Your theory is wonderful if your presumption that leaving your position as Associate Head Coach and position coach, to a position coach in the same industry is a "better opportunity".

WTF is an Associate HC? and coaching OL is an upgrade over coaching TE's.
