I've never seen a QB look less comfortable than he did Friday. His throws were so tentative and a couple times he literally just put it up for grabs. How in the world does he give those optics as a tenured veteran collegiate QB?

Well in this game we had no run game and only two WRs made plays. Not saying Beck plays OK but this was a big team loss especially offensively and Dawson.

Yes I listened to the whole thing and heard him take plenty of responsibility. But as a 6th year player, QB, highest paid player on the team, he's the leader and should NEVER publicly throw a player under the bus. ESPECIALLY after he just threw 4 INTs and cost us the game. I've also followed him closely for several years being from Georgia and having dozens of close friends who are UGA fans. Their narrative on him has always been the same.

And if you watch the presser and see the way he looked down and kind of mumbled "ran the wrong route" you can tell even he knew he shouldn't have said it. He just couldn't help it.

Just look at the headlines and the stories around the message boards. He knows what narratives are out there against him. He's already talked about them..he just gave them more fuel. Why give the media and the fans any added reason to add to the narrative? What good could come from him publicly telling everybody that his TE ran the wrong route?

Everybody that matters, IN the locker room, already knows what happens.. So it only comes across as soft and trying to deflect blame.

Three days later and I still get angry thinking about how little prep was done for the Louisville game. It wasn't a game against a team that is a cupcake. Louisville is ALWAYS a difficult win. It certainly wasn't a game to waltz in and think you were going to win by being the bully in the trenches. And if Dawson wasn't seeing it, who is upstairs in the press box talking to him? You're telling me that they didn't see the openings on the flats, the check downs, etc and let Shannon know he needed to make adjustments?

They need to start getting some of the guys on the bench more involved. It cannot go forward with just Toney and Daniels . Start using Lyle properly as a change of pace - you can still play a little bully ball to move the sticks forward.

Dawson needs to have the best game plan he's every had to beat SMU. Heatherman is going to have to dig deep and have a solid plan.

Same for Pittsburgh.

Two things could be true at same time. He had no run game against Louisville either and oline did him no favors with bone headed penalties putting the offense behind the sticks. I think he felt he had to put the game on his shoulders and pressed. Check downs were apparently open all game and he is supposedly the check down king and instead pressed it downfield.

But sure, it is statistically likely he will throw another pick in the next 6 games. Hopefully not multiple in the same game like this time.

Of course the press does that. That's why, as a player, you shouldn't give them ANYTHING to be able to do that with. Especially when you're already fighting those narratives.

Beck threw Lofton under the bus. He clearly said "receiver ran the wrong route".
Beck came into the year with public perception/narrative challenges.
Him "blaming the receiver" only fed those narratives.

Doesn't matter what I believe. He's a 6th year player. He should know better. He's fighting for HIS future. He's only hurting himself.

Yes. I saw a guy who while trying take some responsibility, on the critical play didn't take responsibility and called out his receiver. It was a bad pass and he should have owned it. If the receiver ran the wrong route take it up in the film room or in private.

Lofton is a big boy & shame on him if he can’t take the heat. Media and fans are always *****ing about being kept in the dark on how something played out. They click on message boards to speculate. Now we’re *****ing about the truth.

Last year Beck had back to back 3 int games.. so I’m prepared for another Louisville game sometime this season.

No games in 2023 but I would say from my average cfb fan scouting eyes. Beck reflects more of the 2024 version of himself than the 2023 version. The Florida game was the first warning sign as in 2024 they gave him **** and he didn’t do that great against them this year either. Now the 3+ int game was the finally dagger for me. We have 2024 Beck.

Also in 2023, his safety blanket was the TE’s and most people thought our TE’s would be providing the impact as that UGA teams. But as we seen this year.. they basically been nonexistent.

Also never read to deep into Mock Drafts and preseason projections. TVD was projected a first round pick also.

Rewatching the game, man alive Beck was even worse than I thought against USF. The 5 consecutive drives after our first TD were horrendous. Some additional lowlights from the FG drive before the half and the first drive of the 3q:

• 2:49 2q, stays on #7, 2nd guessing and not ripping the ball to him when he's open initially on the sideline, then threw it to him when he was covered, when he had #9 coming wide open in the end zone (then he misses Toney open for a TD on the next play. Two chances in a row to get 4 more points that he gave away. We lost by 3 points)
• 14:16 3q, he comes off his first read (#9) then is staring at a wide-open Toney, who had room to run, then doesn't throw him the ball. Since the OL pass pro was amazing, he still has time to look at Fletcher on the swing - also wide open - does not throw it him either, then he finally decides to loft a ball over the corner to Daniels off-schedule, which he's lucky didn't get picked too.
• 14:05 3q (the next play), scrambles for no reason (no pressure), doesn't even look at #9 who was open on the outbreaking route, nor allow the 2 receivers running deep to run their routes. Just complete panic.

He looked shellshocked out there after the first two INTs. Similar stuff on the 3rd INT drive too, when he missed Toney for the TD on the sprint out and some other stuff. Rewatching Dawson's midweek presser after the USF game last night, he noted when asked about 2 picks that "it's going to happen, it's how the QB reacts after that matters, and I was impressed how he reacted after the picks." (paraphrasing) The complete opposite happened against UL. He made bad decisions, paid the price with picks, then let it affect him the rest of the game.

There is really no comparison between Beck's and TVD's resume. So while both may have been projected as 1st rounders at one time, Beck at least had the bonafides of playing in a much tougher conference and winning championships while TVD never reached that kind of level.

That said Beck is plainly a system qb and needs to stop thinking he can single handedly win games for you like Ward did. If he plays within the system he has and executes he will be fine.

In 2024 he had a relatively subpar oline, lack of consistent running game, and his receivers struggled to catch the ball. He probably felt he had to over compensate for that leading to his forcing the ball and making ill advised throws. Friday night against Louisville was a microcosm of his 2024 season due to similar issues.

The other night was a fiasco from top to bottom from coaches to players so I don't totally blame Beck for the loss. Hopefully, this is just a bump on the road and not the edge of the cliff and the team regains their focus because there is still a lot to play for though our margin for error has gotten smaller.

He has 11 td passes and 7 INT’s in 6 games. Cam had 39 td passes and the same 7 INT’s in 13 games! He’s already equaled all of Cam’s INT’s last season including a bowl game in only 46% of the games. Truly pathetic. He will for sure throw more INT’s than he threw at UGA last year (12).

Every single person on this board that made any statement that said or implied that beck (or our offense last year) would be anything close to cam should be banned for life

him touching his elbow after INts is a bigger concern than the post game presser. either way, short of having a Cam ward like end to the season, he isnt getting drafted.
