Barry Jackson update

F*ck, sure hire the guy who was just fired from his previous job for not being able to win the big games. Woohoo, perennial 8 & 9 win seasons here we come.

Butch went 8-5 in his three seasons at UNC and never sniffed a BCS bowl. So...good point, I guess?

Also built the best team in CFB history and is probably the greatest evaluator of talent out there, compared to a guy who has been getting his *** kicked in recruiting in his own state.

reports that blake has to sell him on the job, him being unsure of if he wants to jump back in to coaching? ***** that give me a motivated butch all day

Just because you know you have a desperate slump buster on hold doesn't mean you don't try to talk to the Chonga who thinks alot of herself.

Yeah the current #4 class in the country speaks to "getting his *** kicked in his own state"

Davis knows that we are interviewing other candidates. He is not going to get scared off.

And I do not buy the Schiano stuff. That sounds like pure politics right there. Pretend like we are after the squeaky clean guy but that did not pan out so we had to go with Butch type scenario.

Fifteen. Years. Ago.

If my aunt had a d!ck, she'd be my uncle. There's NO indication that Butch can put together any comparable level of talent that he did back in the late 90s. In fact, judging by his time at UNC, it's almost guaranteed that he can't. He's also 64; it's entirely possible that the game has simply passed him by.

So besides something that happened over a decade ago, what's your support for Butch being a better coach than Richt for this program?

Lol...bruh, dude had Kenneth Marshall, Gurley, Chubb and Michel all at the same time right after Crowell...recruiting is not an issue.

Who gives a ***** if he can recruit GA? He will have to now recruit these city boy, non church going, been drinking lean and smoking dirty since they were in middle school savages in Liberty City and Overtown now! From my count he has NEVER gotten any inner city kid from Miami or Ft Laud to come to UGA except Sony and Isiah.

I know he plucked a DT from Plantation that was big time. Cant remember his name. I know Gogeta would know. Other then that, he has no track record of being able to recruit down here consistantly. So not only will he be a fish out of water but he also brings a resume that is esp overwhelming. (constant underachieiver)

I dont hate the hire. I just dont understand why we would pick him over Butch.

And not for nothing, does he even still have the "want" to be great? To win a title? Or is he just cool with being relevant every year? (winning 9-10 games a year but never really becoming elite. Which is the story of his career at UGA)

You also failed to address that Butch shares the EXACT SAME QUALITIES (recent history of 8 and 9 win seasons) supporting your contention that Richt is the wrong guy. Not to mention it's just flat out wrong; Richt won 10 games in 2011 and 2014 and 12 games in 2012. If UGA gets a bowl win this year, that would be another ten win season.

So, stated simply, nice try.

The Schiano tidbit must have been planted by Blake and the BOT to make us all stfu about Richt or face having Schiano as HC instead. The ultimate game of chicken. "You don't like Richt? Fine. But the alternative is Schiano, NOT Butch. So, watcha got ta say now?"

Lot of them had serious injuries. After a few, do you start to wonder why

everyone needs to reset their baseline for Georgia, it is a vastly overrated program that has never done anything outside of when they had the biggest freak in the history of the sport. Considering what georgia is, Richt did very well. They don't draw national stars from other key states, and honestly the state of georgia's a little overrated in football

IMO no way they hire a guy that they just interviewed today and have to go through all the DM's tonight before making an announcement Wednesday.

Read the article from the "What doomed Richt" post. Their recruiting problems played a role in his demise. Pruitt is considered the best recruiter at UGA, If you read their 247 board, losing Pruitt will cost them more recruits than Richt.

What played a role is not picking the right QB. If Butch hadn't found Ken Dorsey he'd be rolling with Ethenic Sands after Kenny Kelly.
