And clemson
Thanks. Still a tough schedule to look foward to at the moment. We don’t play Michigan State next year. We play at A&M, and home vs Southern Miss. That’s the OOC schedule right now. Expect 2 additional cupcakes. And yes we do play at Clemson in ACC play.
SIGNIFICANTLY SO.If Oregon goes to the playoff it’ll make things more difficult for UM.
Fair point but it’s a different pool for the university as a whole vs sports. Most of our big boosters are from the area but didn’t go to school at Miami, so the ties to sports aren’t quite so strong. As an example, Stuart Miller gave $100m in 2005 or so to rename the medical school and later on gave another gift of $50m or so. But those went to the areas he is most passionate about, and you don’t see his name on much (if anything) around the athletics facilities. We keep talking about not having boosters to write large checks but didnt Shalala raise a BILLION dollars not once but twice? Where did all that money come from?
Can someone educate me as to how she did this.Wasn’t all that from private donations?

I can understand that but out of that 2 billion I find it hard to believe that we couldn’t get someone or a couple of someone’s to write a 5- 10 million dollar check for the football team something that would only enhance the schools identity and reputation which would lead to more enrollments which ultimately would lead to more alumni which would lead to more boosters that would lead to more donations…Fair point but it’s a different pool for the university as a whole vs sports. She had quite a fundraising system in place. We got hit up as soon as my daughter registered for graduation. (She was in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences). The kids are asked to donate then too.We keep talking about not having boosters to write large checks but didnt Shalala raise a BILLION dollars not once but twice? Where did all that money come from?

Why? Wouldn’t the buyout be less? Or are you thinking Oregon will throw a boatload at him if they make the playoffs? If Oregon goes to the playoff it’ll make things more difficult for UM.
Donna was a strong fundraiser and had the academics going in the right direction. Julio is a ****.We keep talking about not having boosters to write large checks but didnt Shalala raise a BILLION dollars not once but twice? Where did all that money come from?

That sounds like A-RodThey're getting it from this.
It quotes a Barry Jackson interview with an unnamed UM trustee, who says..
"If UM offered (Cristobal) $7 million annually to try to entice him to leave Oregon in a five-year deal, that's $35 million," Jackson said. "It also would cost $9 million to buy out Cristobal's contract before January of 2022, or $6.5 million afterward. That and buying out the final two years and $8 million of Diaz’s contract in December would cost more than $50 million."
Whoever said this is adding up all the buyouts and the TOTAL of a hypothetical Mario contract. Since.. ya know.. contracts are paid in full up front. Smh..
Well if Blake is being kept because he’s so good at fundraising ( gotta be that cause he sucks at every other part of being an AD ) he should be standing at the end of the stage with a bell and a red kettle as they walk off after getting their diplomas ..She had quite a fundraising system in place. It wouldn’t change the contract or buyout currently in place per se… he would just have a lot more leverage with Oregon and potentially Miami from a salary demands standpointWhy? Wouldn’t the buyout be less? Or are you thinking Oregon will throw a boatload at him if they make the playoffs?

Mario will be more than this BOT/AD will be willing to take. They will probably throw up at the number, weak asses.10 million per for Mario ? No.
You’d think so. But when you look at Miami’s gifts vs an SEC school, Miami is MUCH more focused on mega donations.I can understand that but out of that 2 billion I find it hard to believe that we couldn’t get someone or a couple of someone’s to write a 5- 10 million dollar check for the football team something that would only enhance the schools identity and reputation which would lead to more enrollments which ultimately would lead to more alumni which would lead to more boosters that would lead to more donations…
Surely out of that 2 billion there has to be at least one or two people that see the upside of s successful sports program and the cash cow it can become.
I already did. Mirabal is coming, Ponce from App St as well. Field at minimum with be the RC or RD (whatever title Mario gives) and DVD will probably be out back in recruiting. T-Rob staying is probably gonna happen as well. I see it like this.I think the trickier components to get hashed out are the budgets to build out a staff.
Oregon has two guys on staff that are infinitely more qualified and with better resumes than Manny Diaz in Moorhead and DeRuyter
