Fire Manny
It needs to say "Fire Blake". Manny is a product of another man's decision and firing Manny doesn't solve the problem. A new AD would replace him anyway.
Fire Manny
I get that. I’m asking of another booster would step in and take the reins away from Blake
I'll cut Cribby's throat & do it for $14,500.Currently I have a box truck that I’ll paint “ Fire Manny ” on both sides. Then I’ll drive through coral gables for a week. All I need is a donation of 15,000 bucks to make it happen. Pm me for details.
You're missing the fact that Miami would be ponying up big dollars, as it doesn't have an alumni base that writes checks.
Georgia did a $200,000,000 investment into their athletic department a few years back—the majority coming from alumni-donated dollars—which UGA will see a return on their investment.
Miami isn't hat-in-hand poor, but there is a real issue for a private school with 11,000 undergrads and a fan base mostly made up of non-alum who don't write checks.
This. Excellent points. You are only throwing good money at bad when you continue to fund an inept enterprise. Not directed at you specifically, but here's the issue I have with this whole line of thinking.
I would say to UM.... If you want people to donate more money to athletics, then show that you're invested in it. Show potential donors their money will be well-spent. Produce an exciting and winning product. Give people something to get fired up about and throw their support behind.
You can't whine about how not enough people donate money when you're not showing people that you're making any kind of effort at all.
Nobody is going to ask players to donate to a coach fund unless there is an idea of who the coach is that they’re targeting. If it’s the right coach, they’ll donate regardless of who the AD is.For specific projects ya sure.
Indoor facility and locker room(our biggest spends) pretty straight forward and pretty widely known as necessary. Very hard to mess up.
But give Blake James money to hire a new coach… absolutely not.
They would donate money if Blake wanted to hire Mario, as evidenced by the past when they offered money to hire Mario.
Mario won’t work for Flake James though. So if they were to donate money for the coaching search to Blake James it would be going to someone other than their first choice. Not happening.
It’s embarrassing all around. The people who are primarily interested in football only are more likely to be the ones to go scorched earth on the school and at the BOT people who donate huge money - with a few exceptions on here as there are some alumns on CIS I’ve seen who support this but most don’t like seeing their school soiled with this type of thing.
Nobody has whined about money tho. I don’t know where this comes from. These new facilities were built with donations. There’s names on those buildings to prove it!Not directed at you specifically, but here's the issue I have with this whole line of thinking.

So what’s the part I was wrong about?Nobody is going to ask players to donate to a coach fund unless there is an idea of who the coach is that they’re targeting. If it’s the right coach, they’ll donate regardless of who the AD is.
Yea mario isn’t working for Blake tho.
How noble of you. You live in a fantasy land.Fvck your banners.
The idea that getting blown out on national television isn't embarrassing enough to make termination decisions, but that a banner or billboard truck will do it, is asinine.
At best, and historically at UM, banners have only played a (minimal) role in getting people fired. Banners have played no role in getting the right people hired. That's the logical disconnect. Fire the corch, new corch hired. Fire the AD, well, now you are getting closer to the root problem. But you are asking largely the same group of people (i.e., the BOT and doners) who hired Blake to hire a new AD. Good luck with that.
And as an alumni, The University of Miami will always be greater than the University of Miami football program. Even assuming a banner is good for the program (there is no evidence of that), it's a bad look for the University.
So, yeah, fvck your banners.
Beats the **** outta me. LolSo what’s the part I was wrong about?
Let's zoom out a little from just the athletics. Georgia started a fundraising campaign similar to our Momentum programs in November 2016... the same year they got serious about winning and brought in Kirby Smart. And since then have raised 1.4 billon with a b. In less than 5 years. Of course it is apples to oranges when you read the stats and breakdowns...You're missing the fact that Miami would be ponying up big dollars, as it doesn't have an alumni base that writes checks.

Then say that. By saying it has no to minimal effect is disingenuous. They absolutely do care about bad PR. Embarrassing losses does not fall under that to them. Not much heat from the media since it’s now the “norm”. Banners flying over an empty stadium, absolutely. Media will be all over that. It’s embarrassing all around. My sentiments exactly. It's a hard tightrope to walk.
Generally speaking, it's not pleasant to see anything which makes my alma mater look bad.
However, after three decades of dealing with a private school hierarchy that was frequently unresponsive to its students (I could cite numerous tuition-increase protests in the 1980s, the painfully slow response to installing blue-light phones across campus to increase safety in the 1980s-1990s, or the incredibly delayed process of building a pedestrian bridge over US 1 which finally came to completion a few years ago, after DECADES of efforts), I will tell you that it is perversely delightful to see Trustees and UM administrators publicly humiliated by banners.
I was not a fan of the "Butch" banner, as I thought Butch was a great coach in a bad situation.
I was a fan of the other "coaching change" banners.
I believe that "AD change" banners should focus squarely on Beta Blake.
Sadly, our Athletic Department is strangely disconnected from the rest of UM in the traditional "command-structure" organization. To the best of my knowledge only one AD has been forced out in the past 40+ years (though it's possible that The Shermanator was also nudged to leave).
I ain't gonna lie, I do derive some amusement from the Athletics-related banners, and the huffing and puffing the banners cause among the Trustees. This amusement tends to outweigh the general feeling of alma mater embarrassment.
Now, if people started flying banners that mocked our dorms or course offerings or the number of volumes in the Richter Library, I might be more concerned.
Rolling in what? Another **** hire? You guys are just screaming into the wind. How noble of you. You live in a fantasy land.
No, evidently embarrassing losses are not enough because simply, most trustees do not care. You say banners are a bad look but yet they have no affect. A bad look is what makes them pay attention. Add in an empty stadium and now we’re really rolling.
Tell me why the University interfered with the US1 billboard.
Fair enough lol. Main takeaway is Blake’s gotta goBeats the **** outta me. Lol
There are other alums who feel differently, and it’s hard to blame them when the Miami herald runs an article talking about the lack of interest on the part of the president of the school and most of its trustees.Fvck your banners.

A change. Maybe we’ll be lucky and finally hit gold. Maybe Mario+Zo are the ones to do it. Maybe not. it’s better than accepting the current sht hire. One thing is for certain. The board will not move without any embarrassment coming their way.Rolling in what? Another **** hire? You guys are just screaming into the wind.
