Barry Jackson telling us a lot we already knew

Working out the details of the new 3-3-5 scheduling?

Arranging a moving truck for the massive strap-on collection?

Clearing out his public storage unit that holds old Nike gear that never made it to the team?
Trying to sell his house with the dungeon….

My question for you (or anyone else who chooses to answer) would be if you know the other options simply aren't capable of doing what's asked of them (due to coaching, talent or any other number of reasons)then why do you not invest in that kids future who is also a significant part of the future of your program and give him game time reps which is the only way to honestly asses where a kid is at as well as develop him... From day 1 it was clear LT should've been getting burn. He wasn't because he didn't match what Mandy's system called for. As his been pointed out over and over as an interior lineman in his system all he wants you to be capable of is plugging a hole and taking on multiple blockers... Getting upfield is almost viewed as a negative and it's one of the main reasons him and Gerald clashed so often when he was here. For him it was always plug up the middle so the edges can be exploited while locking up running lanes. *** backwards
I thought it was the opposite? I'm no defensive scheme expert by any stretch, but I thought that Manny's scheme wanted everyone upfield whereas our new scheme will have our DL attacking blocks more directly?

In fact, as I posted in another thread, I happened to meet a UM coach (w/in the last month or so) who expressed that very sentiment to me when I asked about the defense. This scheme change was highlighted in our conversation.

Agree on all points. It's why people were saying that Manny wasn't playing the best players -- something he acknowledged (too late) at the end of last season.

It's a scheme change at the dl because no part of Manny's scheme was about dl attacking blockers. It was about occupying blockers. The penetration came on the edges from the ends, will backer, striker and safety. That was generally how Mandy operated. Differences would come from which backer would drop and which safety would drop. That was the issue. As long as you had a well coached line with good communication we'd simply get stonewalled. Now is all about attacking the man on the opposite side of the ball whether that's on the line where the change will be most obvious or on the outside where we will be ALOT more physical opposed to before we stayed in man but it was primarily bump where they'd get passed on between 5-15 yards

I feel like being petty & pulling up old threads where this was repeatedly pointed out. Lol

The culture absolutely sucked, & it was clear & evident.

Never forget:

Or

Or

& yes, that’s Green & Pink on the “hit stick.”

A lot of the stuff he mentioned I posted on since 2019, in real time. Some people didn’t believe me, I was just being negative lol.

We all knew Diaz was a disaster but **** it hurts to read it again. No player accountability under his regime.

So happy with the direction the program is headed.
Doesn't make sense that he wanted his best players to like him when we had a slow LB starting. Dude was trash at recruiting discipline everything. But everyone ate it up cause of the chain and what RJ Macintosh did for his defense year one. He doesn't even know who his best players are lol.

Facts I knew u was keeping it 100 but they said 15-0 I was like ok let it play out. It was super obvious

Not saying I disagree Dee. But when I watched I would constantly see our DTs run themselves out of plays.

I saw no gap integrity from them. Nesta would go where ever he pleased most of the time. **** we had Jon Ford out there doing swim moves instead of just engaging the blockers.

You mix in Manny's constant slanting and stunting. To me our DTs especially the 3 tech were allowed to play like defensive ends.

Yea I was probably one of them tbh.

Re: Manny as a DC, eventually they figure him out. Everyone gets upfield and you need really good LBs to clean it up. If you don't, you're screwed. Same with the secondary. I think they'll figure him out sooner rather than later at this stop, but who knows, maybe he'll evolve.

They’ll figure it out a lot quicker, too, if they just take a few minutes to look at that UNC game tape.

I know its just words at this moment, but 2 quotes from Mario's ACC presser stood out to me as to the level of detail he is into:

"If it's a thing its a thing, and things are important" and "How you do anything is how you do everything".

Mario is laser focused on the little things.
